Simon Reeve walks into a radioactive waste dump in Kyrgyzstan, Central Asia, while making his TV series Meet the Stans.


He is dressed to protect himself against the dangerous uranium dust and radiation in this area, but around him wander animals, local village people. Trucks as well as cars are driving all over this area. Someone is even digging a hole for unknown reasons, into the highly radioactive dirt. 


He makes the point that the former uranium mine left toxic and radioactive tailing piles all over the place, but no fences and no security is anywhere to be seen. 


This is the legacy of the nuclear industry; toxic waste poisoning people and children all over the world. So much for clean, green and safe nuclear energy.
