Dr. Helen Calidott MD makes the point in the following video that we are on the edge of wiping out all life on the planet via wide variety of methods, all human created.

The first method involves planetary life extinction/suicide using nuclear weapons or some combination of nuclear bombs and missiles.
If any religious fundamentalist political leader or dictator pushes the nuclear missile or bomb launch button for ANY reason, life on this planet ends at that point.
Why? Because once a nuclear missile or bomb launch is detected, computers automatically launch a counter attack, and vice versa.
If one country launches nuclear weapons, the end result will be a global nuclear Armageddon, or Mutually Assured Destruction (MAD) as the target nation launches it’s nuclear weapons in return and allies get involved. The relationships between nations will result in everyone launching everything nuclear that they have.

The Stockholm International Peace Research Institute (SIPRI) released a 2011 SIPRI Yearbook, which provides estimates of the number of nuclear weapons in the world.
Only four countries have nuclear weapons ready to launch within a few minutes. The US has 2,150 and Russia has 2,427 deployed nuclear weapons, respectively.
“Under the terms of the New Start agreement, ratified in 2010, each country is required to reduce the number of deployed strategic warheads to 1,550 by the year 2017. The other two countries with deployed nuclear weapons, according to SIPRI, are the UK with 160 deployed weapons and France with 290 deployed weapons. The total number of deployed nuclear weapons in the world stands at 5,027 in 2011. Of these, SIPRI estimates that some 2,000 are kept on high operational alert, ready to be fired within moments of an order to do so.
In addition to its deployed nuclear weapons, the US has 6,350 additional weapons for a total of 8,500. Russia has 8,570 additional weapons for a total of 11,000. The UK has an additional 65 weapons for a total of 225. France has an additional 10, for a total of 300.
Four other countries have only non-deployed nuclear weapons, according to SIPRI: China with 240; India with 80-100; Pakistan with 90-110; and Israel with 80.”

The problem with having nuclear weapons is that there is always a temptation to use them, even in a local conflict such as Vietnam. Nixon wanted to use nuclear weapons in Vietnam, but was talked out of it. It only takes one mistake by one leader to start a global nuclear war.
Currently only a few countries have nuclear weapons. We can agree to dismantle and get rid of ALL nuclear weapons. It is possible to do this, because MOST countries have NO nuclear weapons and they are doing fine without them.

The problem with nuclear war is that it is TERMINAL. It does not matter who starts a nuclear war. With every nation launching everything they have in a preventative manner, the end result will be the end of all life on the planet, because there are enough nuclear weapons on Earth to kill everyone about a dozen times over.
As these nuclear weapons knock out all electrical grids, all power will be lost to the 400 nuclear power plants globally, as well as their associated spent fuel pools. We saw what happened at Fukushima Daichi nuclear power plants when their power went out. Multiple reactors and spent fuel pools melted down and/or exploded.
Imagine 400-800 times this much and worse, because power was brought back to Fukushima to prevent the worst case scenario in the nick of time. If nuclear weapons destroy all power grids, no power is coming back to any nuclear power plant, anywhere.

Terrorists have already taken over one nuclear power plant. The potential exists for terrorists taking over multiple reactors and making them melt down or explode in places like New York City.
If they do this with a large enough complex, such as Fukushima, it can result in the extinction of all life on the planet, because the combination of multiple spent fuel pools and reactors melting down or exploding is enough to kill every living being on the planet.

Hand them a copy this article, or send them the link to this article, and teach them. Teach your children the dangers of non sustainable energy systems, such as coal, oil and nuclear.
Teach the children in your life about the benefits of the green, clean, zero carbon energy sources, and try to live or move towards those fuels as your energy source for your home, car, workplace, etc. Be an example that does what is being taught.
We all have an impact, and every person counts. Think about seven future generations before making decisions such as who provides my energy for heating, cooling, etc? We can do this, but it takes your energy, participation and support. Make a difference. Get involved.
