If a woman gets a mammogram every year from age 40 on, that woman greatly increases her risk of getting breast cancer. The squeezing of the breast in the machine also increases the risk and can spread cancer, which also increases the risk of dying from cancer.

In the video below, Dr. Mercola discusses mammograms. He advises women under 50 to not get mammograms at all, unless there are specific and unusual risk factors. Routine mammography is at best; highly questionable.
A Swedish study with 42,000 women who got regular mammography had a 29% increase in total deaths from breast cancer. He quotes an author that says mammography is the single biggest cause of breast cancer.
