Mayor Bloomberg; 34 People A Day Are Murdered In The USA

How long would a war last, if every day, the news was filled with the horrible stories about how ANOTHER 34 brave US soldiers lost their lives in a war somewhere? It is bad enough when soldiers die in a battlefield. But what is MUCH worse, is when civilians are killed, for no reason. In a war, generals talk a lot about avoiding killing civilians, because they are innocent, carry no weapons and do not deserve to die for ANY reason due to bullets coming out of a weapon of war.

In any war where 34 soldiers were dying each and every day, we would be demanding an end to the bloodshed, either by winning the war, or getting the heck out of that country. The wars in Afghanistan and Iraq have killed several thousand soldiers over ten years, and that statistic alone is enough to turn people off. Most Americans want the US out of those countries, because enough blood has been shed over those ten years.

Having 30,000 soldiers dying per year would spell the end of ANY war very quickly. World War II was over in a few short years. People get fed up with their children being sacrificed for violence very quickly. War is slowly but surely going out of fashion, because of the sheer number of deaths of family members involved, both before, during and after the actual war conflict. No one wants their child to die in a war or after that due to PTSD induced violence, or war related drug addiction for example.

Yet somehow, in the US, having 34 children, women and even seniors killed each and every day in a senseless, mindless violent and PREVENTABLE murder involving guns is OK, ho hum, so what kind of news, especially with the NRA. Their only answer to this civilian genocide is to sell more guns, more ammo, more large capacity magazine clips.

The NRA and gun manufacturers fight every common sense prevention method that has been proven to work in other countries as well as here in the USA. They dismantle all laws that are designed to keep weapons of war out of the hands of civilians, on the pretense that the ‘Constitution’ wants us to keep killing each other and that this is a good thing.

Why is killing 30,000 innocent civilians a year a good thing? How did we end up this way? Why do we keep voting to put people in office that listen to the gun manufacturers lobbyists, who do nothing more than sell war related death and violence? It is only in war that one needs large ammo clips, assault rifles, armor piercing rounds, and bullet proof body armor, plus no background checks, education, insurance, licenses or anything else. It is only in war that there is an open season on human beings. Is it only in war when the body count rises over a few beings per year.

We are living in a war zone here in the USA. We are surrounded by gun dealers selling weapons of mass destruction, with a target painted on every person walking the streets, going to school, going to a movie or shopping anywhere. When is enough death going to be enough already?

A few leaders are stepping up and making their voices heard, to stop this senseless bloody, genocidal, death machine.

Statement of Mayor’s Against Illegal Guns Co-Chair New York City Mayor Michael R. Bloomberg:

“With all the carnage from gun violence in our country, it’s still almost impossible to believe that a mass shooting in a kindergarten class could happen. It has come to that. Not even kindergarteners learning their ABC’s are safe.

We heard after Columbine that it was too soon to talk about gun laws. We heard it after Virginia Tech. After Tucson and Aurora and Oak Creek. And now we are hearing it again. For every day we wait, 34 more people are murdered with guns. Today, many of the victims were five-year olds.

President Obama rightly sent his heartfelt condolences to the families in Newtown. But the country needs him to send a bill to Congress to fix this problem. Calling for ‘meaningful action’ is not enough. We need immediate action. We have heard all the rhetoric before.

What we have not seen is leadership – not from the White House and not from Congress. That must end today. This is a national tragedy and it demands a national response. My deepest sympathies are with the families of all those affected, and my determination to stop this madness is stronger than ever.”

Statement of Mayors Against Illegal Guns Co-Chair Boston Mayor Thomas M. Menino:

“As a parent and grandparent, I am overcome with both grief and outrage by the tragedy in Newtown, Connecticut. This unspeakable act of violence will forever imprint this day in our hearts and minds. My heart goes out to the families impacted by this senseless tragedy and the many others we have recently witnessed across the United States.

As a Mayor who has witnessed too many lives forever altered by gun violence, it is my responsibility to fight for action. Today’s tragedy reminds us that now is the time for action. Innocent children will now never attend a prom, never play in a big game, never step foot on a college campus. Now is the time for a national policy on guns that takes the loopholes out of the laws, the automatic weapons out of our neighborhoods and the tragedies like today out of our future.”

If we do not act now, then when? What will it take for you to vote in candidates that oppose the genocidal gun lobby? If this bloody carnage is to continue, are you willing to offer up YOUR child, your wife, your mother, your father, or even yourself on the alter of death that is politicians selling their bodies to the high and holy alter of the death industry? Why is death worth so much more than life?

When will there be an end to the war mongering profiteers of violence that is represented by the NRA lobbyists and ‘hired guns’? When will there be an end to the gun manufacturers hiding behind the lobbyists, who are pushing out the best mass media propoganda and paid off politicians that money can buy?

When will the insanity of 30,000 needless deaths per year just in the USA end?  If you are not fed up now, today, then when? How many more kindergarden kids and babies will have to die to get you to vote, speak up and take action? Will it take your child’s death, to get you to speak up?
