Imagine what would happen if and when a nuclear reactor inside of a ship melts down and through either on shore or in the port… There will be no way to clean up a melt down and through. There will be no way to stop a radiation disaster, which will take out thousands of square miles of land, as happened with Chernobyl, Fukushima and other disasters like it, but that were covered up much better.

It only takes a couple of hours for a nuclear reactor to melt down once it has no more cooling water. Is it worth the risk of contaminating huge areas of ocean and land just to get power for 30 years? 

Finally, each and every nuclear reactor, mining company and recycler releases HUGE amounts of toxic, radioactive substances both into the air and into the water. Saying that this reactor has nothing hazardous coming out should be raise HUGE red flags for any community thinking about adding one of these. Starting with lies is not a good way to enter a partnership, especially one with risks that could mean the wholesale destruction of the town involved, all for the sake of a little power.

Renewable energy is a much better way to go, with none of these risks and none of the toxic, radioactive emissions.
