U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS), part of the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), is launching a major effort to find immigrants they believe cheated during their naturalization process and strip them of U.S. citizenship.
Going after immigrants’ naturalized citizenship is not a typical process in the United States. It’s so rare, in fact, that most U.S. efforts to investigate naturalized citizens have focused on war criminals, like Nazis.
This is just one of many examples of the Trump administration’s hostility towards immigrants—and with noted anti-immigrant USCIS director Lee Francis Cissna at the helm, it’s impossible to believe any claims that this new directive is in good faith.
It would be one thing if they went after Nazi war criminals, but it is quite another to after minorities from foreign countries where the skin color is other than white, just to try and figure out a way to kick them out due to their skin color or religion.
