Despite Tariffs, Solar Energy Is Cheaper Than Ever

Solar auctions continue to drop to record lows in the United States, even as tariffs are imposed in favor of keeping the coal and natural gas industries afloat as renewable energy takes over.

The latest example occurred this week when a Nevada solar auction sold at a rate of $23.76 per megawatt-hour in a 25-year contract at the Eagle Shadow Mountain Solar Farm, according to Earther. The facility is expected to be ready in 2021, and it breaks a one-week-old record for the country’s cheapest solar project, the report added.
