Sen. Mitch McConnell, who is a traitor to his nation and we ain’t gonna stop saying that just because he insists everybody but him be polite about these things, has never pretended that his effort to block the first black American president from a Supreme Court nomination during the last year of his term was anything else but a one-time excuse. Now that Donald Trump is in office, McConnell cannot rush to his side quickly enough.
And so it’s a given that McConnell is, only hours after Justice Anthony Kennedy’s announced retirement, already planning a “lightning strike” rush to confirm whoever Team Trump wants to replace him. Maybe it will be Lou Dobbs. Maybe it will be Ted Nugent. Maybe it will be take-your-pick from the list of hardline crackpots previously assembled as their far-right dream team of names most likely to ban abortion outright, reinstitute Jim Crow restrictions against voting, and destroy any and all worker rights that interfere with the great gilded class.
It doesn’t matter. The plan is an immediate confirmation—a Republican rush to confirm whoever it is before the midterm elections.
First Republicans call for waiting out the last year of a President’s term to nominate a Supreme Court justice, but then do an about face and call for a LIGHTNING confirmation in the last three months of Trump’s official Presidential term.
Got SUPREME HYPOCRISY?
This is cheating, lying, and fraud on a GRAND SCALE. Republicans are so weak, they cannot ‘win’ without doing this kind of thing, period.
