Mining Awareness +

No one knows the day or the hour! If you think this is just a problem of old waste, do a search in our blog for WIPP. The current handling of nuclear waste is at least as appalling, and probably more so. Another tunnel at Hanford was reported as collapsed on the same day that Trump fired FBI director Comey.
Structural failure must be anticipated
– The time of failure— today, tomorrow or a year— is unknown.
– Corrosion reduces the strength of the tunnel.
– The full extent and rate of corrosion is unknown.
• Failure puts the workers, public and environs at riskfrom an airborne radiological release
