Pat Robertson Cares More About Weapons Deal Than Murder
There’s nothing new about Christian right warhorse Pat Robertson saying offensively stupid things about politics that make you worry about his idea of Christianity. His infamous post-September 11 colloquy with Jerry Falwell blaming the catastrophe on America’s tolerance for abortion and homosexuality was about as bad as it gets. On another occasion he suggested that Israeli prime minister Ariel Sharon’s debilitating stroke was attributable to divine anger over his “dividing God’s land” by ceding Gaza to Palestinians. He’s also claimed that last year’s massacre in Las Vegas was ultimately caused by “disrespect for authority” — and disrespect for President Trump.
Now the CBN founder has gone on his network to counsel caution in sanctioning Saudi Arabia over the apparent murder of journalist Jamal Khashoggi. His rationale was rather interesting for a Man of God, as Vox reports:
While he called the faith of the Wahabists — the hardline Islamist sect to which the Saudi Royal Family belongs — “obnoxious,” he urged viewers to remember that “we’ve got an arms deal that everybody wanted a piece of…it’ll be a lot of jobs, a lot of money come to our coffers. It’s not something you want to blow up willy-nilly.”

AGR; Christ was against war and against killing ANYONE for any reason. He even healed the ear of a soldier who came to arrest him, and told his followers to lay down their swords, despite knowing that they would torture and kill him. Christ did not say, ‘sell weapons to these soldiers and make a lot of money off of them’.
Now alleged ‘Christians’ claim to have a direct line from God and Christ that no one else does. They claim that God and Christ are telling them that war, bombing civilians, children and killing babies is a good idea and that selling weapons to war mongers is also a Christ like thing to do. Really?
What would Christ say if he came back today?
Remember that Christ kicked the moneychangers, hucksters and Capitalists out of the church foyer. He told his followers to sell everything they had and live in common in cooperatives or communes. How many “christians” are following that command, much less the others that Christ offered as simply as he could?
Modern day ‘Christians’ claim it is ok to fleece the flock and collect millions for themselves as the homeless increase in number.
