Cardiomyopathy Reversible with CoQ10 and Selenium | GreenMedInfo
Another story of cardiomyopathy comes from Andrew Schneider who publicized his recovery from idiopathic cardiomyopathy using a nutritional supplement program.(1) Andrew Schneider’s example can be generalized to most others. Cardiomyopathy is an example of a life threatening medical condition in which complete recovery of cardiac function can be achieved using a nutritional supplement program in up to 70% of cases.(5) I find this remarkable. In this article we will examine the etiology, conventional and alternative treatment for cardiomyopathy.
What is Cardiomyopathy?
The pumping ability of the heart can be evaluated with a noninvasive imaging test, the Real Time or 2-D Echocardiogram, considered the “quintessential imaging technique“.(60) The echocardiogram provides an excellent view of the left ventricle in real time, and ejection fraction can be calculated, normally 50-60 %. In the cardiomyopathy patient, the echocardiogram shows a characteristic appearance of a dilated, “baggy” heart with poor wall motion, and the ejection fraction may be reduced as low as 10-15%.(see: header image left chest xray) Needless to say, this is associated with high mortality rate. Remarkably, cardiomyopathy is entirely reversible about 70% of the time.(5,6)
