This just looks uglier and uglier. White Mississippian from Brookhaven, acting US Senator Cindy Hyde-Smith, talking about hangings and not wanting certain people to vote, when an African American voting rights activist was shot dead on the Brookhaven courthouse lawn just a few years before she was born in Brookhaven. Worse, he was allegedly shot by a Smith, and her husband’s name is Smith. His kinfolk? He is apparently from Brookhaven, as well. If you thought it couldn’t get any worse, she was appointed as interim US Senator by Mississippi Governor Phil Bryant, who is a member of Sons of Confederate Veterans and received the Sons of Confederate Veterans heritage award this year! He’s also connected to Russia through the Brexit Boys and through Haley Barbour of BGR Group.   1. Thanks for the reblog! I wish I could find a list of Mississippi Klan members old or new. I am wondering if Sons of Confederate Veterans isn’t acting as a defacto KKK front. It just blows my mind that the sitting governor of a state which is 38% African American is an active member of Sons of Confederate Veterans. Ditto for his friendship with the Brexit Boys, etc. The most mind-blowing is that this isn’t major news.
