Why is freedom and bottoms up democracy such a threat to many organized religions? Why won’t religions allow followers the freedom to explore, read any and all books and to know the full and complete history, including banned books from the Bible?
The history of Christianity includes a council where a Roman Emperor decided he wanted a state religion, which effectively made Rome a theocracy. By approving Christianity as the ‘official religion’, all other religions or belief systems, such as the Essene Gnostics and Pagans, were banned, censored and made illegal. Part of the process of making Christianity official and ‘approved’ by the state was to ban any books that did not give the state and supreme leader absolute and total control over everyone and everything.
Back in the Middle Ages, a state religion was also approved and used by Catholics, who banned any other religion, belief system or interpretation other than the approved one controlled by the 1 percent at the top, just like in Rome. The Bible was written in Latin and only the priests could talk with God. The Pope was considered to be God, and whatever he said was like God saying it, because no one could dispute or disagree with any edict, dogma or interpretation of the scripture that no one could read or understand except the priests and the Pope. There was only ONE literal way to interpret the Bible and that was handled by the priests. No one else had a say in this matter.
But that all changed when the Bible was translated into English and everyone could read and access God.
