Non stick pans are coated with Teflon which contains perfluorooctanoic acid (PFOA) made by the biotech company DuPont.
When heated it leaks into your food and after a while of use starts peeling up and specks of it stick to your food and get consumed. Ever made eggs in a non stick pan and notice the tiny specks of black from your pan in them? Yikes.
This coating is extremely toxic and any level of exposure to it is dangerous to brain health, reproductive health and the immune system. It also has links to cancer. The Environmental Working Group (EWG) categorizes this chemical in the same league as asbestos and lead.
