Actually at least one hospital in Milan (Niguarda) was only putting those 60 years old and under on ventilators, as early as March 11th. Italy has a population of around 60 million and Lombardy around 10 million. The US appears to be unprepared, too. We will see if the US is as woefully unprepared as Italy.
This fatality rate is true for those in high risk groups, but not for low risk groups that have a strong immune system.
