The New York Times is suing the European Commission for failing to publish text messages exchanged by Commission President Ursula von der Leyen and Albert Bourla, the head of pharmaceutical giant Pfizer throughout the pandemic (*).
The European Commission negotiated a contract with Pfizer to supply 1.8 billion doses of vaccine.
It was not the Spanish media, nor the European media that wanted to inform. They have had to come from outside. That says a lot about the lack of transparency of the European institutions and the role of the media to cover up the leak of news that escape from the script.
The petition by the New York Times, the first media outlet to reveal the SMS affair in April 2021, was filed on January 25, but was not released until Monday in the registry of the European Court of Justice.
