FBI documents point to Trump role in hush money for porn star Daniels – Reuters
The documents, released on the orders of U.S. District Judge William Pauley in Manhattan, were used by law enforcement officials to obtain a 2018 search warrant that led to FBI raids on Cohen’s home and office.
The documents provided the most extensive account to date of what appears to be then-candidate Trump’s personal involvement in the scheme to pay $130,000 to porn star Stormy Daniels to avert a controversy for a campaign already reeling from the release of 2005 audio from the TV program “Access Hollywood” in which Trump bragged about grabbing women by the genitals.
The documents detailed repeated communications between Trump and Cohen and Hope Hicks, Trump’s presidential campaign press secretary who later became a senior White House official.
Trump can’t block banks from releasing his financial records, court rules | The Independent
Donald Trump has lost an appeal to prevent Capital One and Deutsche Bank from sending his financial records to Congress, marking another legal blow to the president after several lawsuits and court rulings have sought records of his finances.
A 106-page ruling from a three-judge panel at the US District Court of Appeals says the banks must hand over several years of the president’s records as part of a subpoena order from House Democrats.
The latest ruling follows the president’s appeal of a May decision from US District Judge Edgardo Ramos, who ruled that the banks must comply with a congressional request for financial records from the president and his company, as well as similar records from the Trump family.
Sanders leads fight against ‘obscene’ Trump plan to cut food stamp access | US news | The Guardian
The 2020 presidential candidate Bernie Sanders is leading a coalition of 19 senators and 120 US representatives in demanding that Donald Trump’s administration rescind a proposed rule that would dramatically limit access to food stamps for low-income families.
“In a nation where the three wealthiest people own more wealth than the bottom half, increasing the barriers for hungry families is unconscionable,” the lawmakers, all of whom are Democrats, wrote in a letter.
The letter comes as the Department of Agriculture said it planned to tighten eligibility for the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (Snap), a government program that provides free food to roughly 40 million Americans. The move would cut about 3.1 million people from the program.
Congress’ First Native American Women Are Ready to Fight For the Planet
Not only did Haaland’s victory make history and help flip the House from red to blue, but it’s a step forward for New Mexico’s environmental agenda. Haaland campaigned on a platform dedicated to solving climate change: moving toward 100 percent renewable energy, ending the expansion of fossil fuels, putting indigenous rights front and center, and ensuring families across the state have clean air and water. The question now is, how to do all of that?
She’s still figuring that out, Haaland said with a laugh. But she imagines a lot of these policies will require the help of her colleagues.
“I’ll be ready to make sure that we map [these environmental goals] out and work toward [them],” Haaland said.
Luckily for Haaland, she’ll have some support on the state’s frontlines. After nearly eight years of Republican leadership, the governor will soon be Democrat Michelle Lujan Grisham. And Democrat Martin Heinrich, a champion of public lands, won re-election of his Senate seat. Then, there’s long-standing Democratic Senator Tom Udall. Both are invested in environmental issues. This blue stronghold may be key in pushing through statewide environmental policies, especially when it comes to oil and gas.
McDonald’s “New Policy” Bans Customers From Buying Food For Homeless – True Activist
“I’d just clocked off work and I was absolutely ravenous. I’d not eaten since breakfast so I thought I’d go to McDonald’s for a quick meal. But when I got to the till the cashier went to get the manager from the back. He then said he wasn’t going to serve me because I looked homeless. I explained to him I had been at work all day but he said they had a zero tolerance policy on serving homeless people,” Jackson told Manchester Evening News.
“It took some serious persuasion to convince them I wasn’t homeless. I admit I was wearing scruffy clothes because I’d been working outside all day. That’s no reason to assume I live on the streets. I’m angry that I had to justify myself in front of a massive queue of strangers. Yet what I find most disgusting is that policy like that even exists. It completely victimises homeless people. Surely if you have the money in your hand and you want to purchase a meal, you should be treated like any other customer,” he added.
Pelosi Stalls Pro-Labor Bill While Pushing Trump’s Trade Deal
It’s not the first time Pelosi’s leadership of a Democratic-controlled House has led to the shelving of labor-friendly legislation. In 2009, the chamber failed to pass the Employee Free Choice Act (EFCA), which would have passed through the then-Democratic Senate and ended up on President Barack Obama’s desk.
The parallels to this House bill are clear, The District Sentinel cohost Sam Knight said on Twitter.
“In 2009, EFCA was cosponsored by a majority of members when Dem leaders refused to even bring it up for a vote,” said Knight. “Pelosi is so utterly devoted to serving her donor class friends.”
“Handing Trump a USMCA win without any strong labor enforcement mechanisms + not passing the PRO act which would sail through the House = gonna give me an aneurysm,” said McLaughlin.
Trump UK visit: Trump ‘doesn’t know’ Prince Andrew despite these photos of them together | indy100
I don’t know Prince Andrew, but that’s a tough story, it’s a very tough story, I don’t know.
Though, as with many things in Trump world, this might be an “alternative fact”.
On Twitter, people began posting photographs of Trump and the prince together.
We don’t know what Trump’s definition of “knowing” someone is – after all, you can be seen with someone without knowing them. But the men were close enough to be photographed together numerous times, even before Trump became president.
Half of dead baby turtles found by Australian scientists have stomachs full of plastic | The Independent
Baby sea turtles are particularly vulnerable to the harmful effects of plastic pollution, according to a new study which found around half of the recently hatched reptiles had stomachs full of plastic.
In recent years, scientists have realised that animals ranging from plankton to whales are regularly consuming plastic, since around 10 million tons of it ends up in the sea every year.
Turtles were some of the first creatures ever observed consuming plastic, with reports of bags being found in their stomachs stretching back to the 1980s.
Some nursing homes are illegally evicting elderly and disabled residents who can’t afford to pay
As the family later learned, Glenda Moore had the right to appeal the Medicare decision, or to apply for Medicaid — and, if she qualified (which she later did), to stay in the nursing home on Medicaid for as long as she needed nursing care. Instead, Moore’s family said, Moore became one of thousands of Americans discharged against their wishes or evicted from nursing homes each year. (The Bishop Care Center maintains that Moore’s health had improved and that she voluntarily left the facility, and points out that they gave her a document noting her right to appeal the Medicare decision.)
Nationally, long-term care ombudsmen, who advocate for elderly and disabled residents of nursing homes and assisted living facilities, received 10,610 complaints about discharges and transfers in 2017, up from 9,192 in 2015. The ombudsmen, whose work is federally mandated and state-funded, receive more complaints about discharges and transfers than any other grievance.
The complaints likely expose just a small fraction of the problem, said Kelly Bagby, vice president at the AARP Foundation, a nonprofit that serves vulnerable people over 50.
“Most people don’t even know they have rights,” she said. And many complaints never result in a formal state investigation.
Seattle’s Food Forest – Free Food For All! – For All
There’s free food everywhere, if you know where to look. Falling Fruit, which maps publicly available produce in several countries, lists 554 edible varieties (mostly plants) in 570,000 locations. It’s mostly stuff that currently goes to waste, like fruit that drops into streets, only to get mashed into concrete.
Most of the locations on Falling Fruit’s map are single trees (including some on private property, where asking the owner is advised) or small community spaces. But foraging is gaining scale all the time. Several places are planting dedicated forests for public use.
Look at Seattle’s embryonic Beacon Food Forest. Set to become the nation’s largest forageable space, it will cover seven acres within city limits, offering everything from plum, apple, and walnut trees, to berry bushes, herbs and vegetables. The goal is to recreate the ecosystem of a real forest with food-bearing varieties at different heights.
‘Sociopathic Disregard for Our Future’: Trump EPA Set to Gut Restrictions on Planet-Warming Methane Emissions | Common Dreams News
Amid dire scientific warnings that the international community must act immediately to slash greenhouse gas emissions, President Donald Trump’s Environmental Protection Agency is reportedly set to take another step in the opposite direction Thursday by unveiling a rule that would gut restrictions on the fossil fuel industry’s methane pollution.
According to the Wall Street Journal, which first reported the proposed rule change Thursday, the EPA’s plan would scrap regulations requiring the oil and gas industry to “install technologies that monitor and limit leaks from new wells, tanks and pipeline networks and to more frequently inspect for leaks.”
“This administration is ultimately driven by sociopathic disregard for our future.”
—Wenonah Hauter, Food & Water Watch
“It would also forestall legal requirements that would have forced the EPA to set rules on emissions from thousands of pre-existing wells and industry sites,” the Journal reported.
‘Larry Silverstein, Lewis Eisenberg made billions of dollars from destruction of Twin Towers’ – PressTV
“So Silverstein got his contract from the Port Authority. He bought the entire Trade Center on a 100-year lease. He only put down 15 million – with an m – million of his own money, along with a hundred million of his partners’ and for that he got the Trade Center for a hundred years,” the commentator said.
“And had the Trade Center not been demolished, this would have been the worst real estate investment in history. But because Silverstein doubled the insurance money from what the Port Authority had held, and managed to get lucky on September 11, he walked out of this with close to $5 billion in cash,” he pointed out.
“He had negotiated it with the insurance company to give him the cash settlement beforehand. And then he also claimed a double indemnity, that is he wanted to double the money because he said there were two separate and unrelated terrorist attacks, namely the two alleged airplanes,” the researcher said.
“So he made a tremendous amount of money out of this. And the insurance company lost—or some insurance companies lost. The question is which insurance companies lost billions of dollars to Larry Silverstein, Lewis Eisenberg and the deep state 9/11 insurance fraud crime, which of course was also done for geopolitical reasons,” he observed.
The Earth is in a death spiral. It will take radical action to save us | George Monbiot | Opinion | The Guardian
Public figures talk and act as if environmental change will be linear and gradual. But the Earth’s systems are highly complex, and complex systems do not respond to pressure in linear ways. When these systems interact (because the world’s atmosphere, oceans, land surface and lifeforms do not sit placidly within the boxes that make study more convenient), their reactions to change become highly unpredictable. Small perturbations can ramify wildly. Tipping points are likely to remain invisible until we have passed them. We could see changes of state so abrupt and profound that no continuity can be safely assumed.
Only one of the many life support systems on which we depend – soils, aquifers, rainfall, ice, the pattern of winds and currents, pollinators, biological abundance and diversity – need fail for everything to slide. For example, when Arctic sea ice melts beyond a certain point, the positive feedbacks this triggers (such as darker water absorbing more heat, melting permafrost releasing methane, shifts in the polar vortex) could render runaway climate breakdown unstoppable. When the Younger Dryas period ended 11,600 years ago, temperatures rose 10C within a decade.
Farm bankruptcies surpass Great Recession levels in upper Midwest – Axios
An analysis by the Federal Reserve Bank of Minneapolis found that 84 farm operations in the upper Midwest filed for Chapter 12 bankruptcy from June 2017 to June 2018.
Why it matters: The number of bankruptcies filed by these farm operations is double the total from 2014 and even surpassed the mark hit in 2010 at the peak of the Great Recession. Current price levels and trends suggest the number will continue to rise, according to the report.
Details: The report examines filings from North Dakota, South Dakota, Minneapolis, Montana and Wisconsin.
Michael Bloomberg Strikes Again: New York City Bans Food Donations To The Homeless – CBS New York
Outlawed are food donations to homeless shelters because the city can’t assess their salt, fat and fiber content, reports CBS 2’s Marcia Kramer.
Glenn Richter arrived at a West Side synagogue on Monday to collect surplus bagels — fresh nutritious bagels — to donate to the poor. However, under a new edict from Bloomberg’s food police he can no longer donate the food to city homeless shelters.
It’s the “no bagels for you” edict.
“I can’t give you something that’s a supplement to the food you already have? Sorry that’s wrong,” Richter said.
Walmart Store Holding Thanksgiving Charity Food Drive — For Its Own Employees!
Recently, Yahoo’s 24/7 Wall Street column sought to identify the nation’s 10 worst paying employers, based on the methodology ultizied by the National Employment Law Project in its 2012 report, “Big Business, Corporate Profits, and the Minimum Wage.”
To the surprise of nobody, Walmart came out on top, achieving the distinction of being the worst paying company in America.
Still, when it comes to Walmart, there are certain analysts and observers who can’t seem to remove the blinders. They continue to insist that Walmart pays its workers an average of over $18.00 per hour when even the company acknowledges that the average full time, hourly rate is $12.83—and that number includes the salaries of some of the highest paid employees in the averaging such as the CEO who earned $20.7 million last year.
Bottom line, nothing in life is guaranteed or for sure, unless you independently verify it to be that way. Even green or sustainable certifications mean little or nothing these days. More often than not, green solutions are illegal, not allowed, or hard to do or obtain.
Organic foods are sometimes contaminated, especially with GMO substances. Supplements are often either worthless or contaminated. You have to check EVERYTHING out personally to see if it is for real and safe for you to consume or use. There are many greenwashing certifications out there designed to mislead ‘green’ consumers, while doing absolutely NOTHING to make an organization greener.
How much greenwashing is going on inside of the FDA, which is supposed to protect consumer health, and prevent harm?
The miracle of Finland: What a tiny northern Minnesota town can teach America | City Pages
Abazs ran pigs through the brush to clear the shrubs and fertilize the dirt, a technique most farmers would think of as something their great-grandpa did. He planted cover crops, like oats, to shoot their roots into the ground, die, and replenish the earth. The soil grew richer, and began to tolerate more demanding crops, but it took five years to foster reliable soil. Still, Abazs faced another challenge: His farm sits two feet above bedrock.
“Imagine farming above a parking lot,” he says. “When I go to southern Minnesota I drool. It’s incredible. I’ll tell people I’ve got 22 inches and they say, ‘That’s pretty good topsoil,’ and I say no, that’s soil to bedrock.”
However, what Abazs lacks in soil volume he more than makes up for in fertility. His organic remedy of cover crops, compost, and crop rotation has cultivated soil bursting with life. Good soil has 5 percent organic matter. Abazs’s soil has up to 18 percent.
Says Abazs: “Conventional farmers treat the soil like a medium. You put the chemicals in, you put the nutrients in and let the plants suck it up. The soil is dead. It’s not biologically alive.”
47 Percent Of GDP – This Is Definitely The Scariest Corporate Debt Bubble In U.S. History
We have never witnessed a corporate debt crisis of this magnitude.
Corporate debt is up a whopping 52 percent since 2008, and this bubble is continually growing.
And actually the 10 trillion dollar figure is the most conservative number out there. Because if you add in all other forms of corporate debt, the grand total comes to 15.5 trillion dollars. The following comes from Forbes…
Total corporate debt is actually much higher. Adding the debt of small medium sized enterprises, family businesses, and other business which are not listed in stock exchanges ads another $5.5 trillion. In other words, total US corporate debt is $15.5 trillion, 74% of US GDP.

10 Reasons I Dumped The Religious Right & Moved To The Christian Left
“But didn’t Jesus speak out against the use of violence, and tell us to love our enemies?” Well, I don’t think that’s really what he meant. Plus, the Old Testament clearly sanctions the use of violence, and we have to believe the whole Bible.
“But doesn’t the Old Testament command the government to tax citizens in order to support those in poverty and immigrants? And doesn’t it command us to welcome immigrants?” Well, yes, but that was the Old Testament you see, so not all of that applies today.
“But didn’t you just say it all still applies?” <silence>
“And doesn’t the New Testament command us to care for the poor and welcome immigrants?” Yes, it does– but we should do that individually as we’re able. God tells us how we should act but that doesn’t mean the government has the right to force us to act that way. Jesus never told the government how to do its job.
“But didn’t you just start out by saying when it comes to gay marriage and abortion the government should make us behave in certain ways?” Listen, son, it’s clear you’re just trying to be a trouble maker and play games with the Bible- I’m not engaging with you until you repent.
Anonymous Hacker Who Exposed Rape Faces More Prison Time Than the Actual Rapists | Complex
One of the hackers who helped to expose a cover-up involved with the 2013 Steubenville, Ohio rape case has pleaded not-guilty to four felony counts of hacking, charges for which he faces more jail time than the actual convicted rapists served. Deric Lostutter is affiliated with the hacktivist group Anonymous, according to Mic, and could be sentenced to up to 16 years in prison. The rapists, Ma’lik Richmond and Trent Mays, were given minimum sentences and were released from juvenile detention after less than one year and two years, respectively.
— Deric Lostutter (@DericLostutter) September 7, 2016
The Steubenville rape case garnered extensive national attention in 2013, when Anonymous leaked images and video made by high school football players who had filmed themselves raping an incapacitated 16-year-old girl in 2012. The students who committed the rape not only filmed it, but shared text messages and images of their crime. It was later also discovered that members of the high school staff had helped to cover up the rape to protect the rapists.
Japan Approves Groundbreaking Experiment Bringing Human-Animal Hybrids to Term
Stem cell biologist Hiromitsu Nakauchi has been waiting for this moment for more than a decade.
After years of planning, the persistent researcher has at last received approval from a government willing to pursue one of the most controversial scientific studies there is: human-animal embryo experiments.
While many countries around the world have restricted, defunded or outright banned these ethically-fraught practices, Japan has now officially lifted the lid on this proverbial Pandora’s box. Earlier this year, the country made it legal to not only transplant hybrid embryos into surrogate animals, but also to bring them to term.
GOP lawmaker claims women are inferior: ‘a lesser cut of meat’ | Michael Stone
Bible based misogyny: South Carolina State Senator Thomas Corbin insults a female colleague, claiming women are “a lesser cut of meat” because the Bible teaches Eve was created from Adam’s rib.
During a working dinner with other lawmakers last week discussing legislation aimed at curbing domestic violence, Corbin made some despicable insults directed at women in general, and his colleague and fellow Republican, Sen. Katrina Shealy, in particular.
According to reports, when a plate of ribs was delivered to the table, Corbin claimed “they remind me of an old joke.” Corbin proceeded to call women a “lesser cut of meat,” explaining:
Well, you know God created man first. Then he took the rib out of man to make woman. And you know, a rib is a lesser cut of meat.
Much has been said about the shadow government that DDT runs in Ukraine, but he has another one in Turkey, as suggested by former National Security Adviser John Bolton when he talked a “personal or business relationship dictating Trump’s position on Turkey.” Like the “irregular” diplomatic run by the “three Amigos” and acting chief of staff Mick Mulvaney, Turkey’s “backdoor diplomacy” has been operated by Recep Tayyip Erdogan’s son-in-law Berat Albayrak, DDT’s son-in-law Jared Kushner, and DDT’s business partner Aydin Dogan’s son-in-law, Mehmet Ali Yalçındağ.
Along with Mehmet’s wife Arzuhan Dogan Yalçındağ and Iranian/Turkish businessman Reza Zarrab, the three sons-in-law circumvented U.S. ambassador to Turkey, David Satterfield, who has been in the foreign service since 1980. Zarrab, represented by…
In 2006, the documentary Hacking Democracy, exposed Diebold and their role in rigging elections with their electronic voting machines.
Clinton Eugene “Clint” Curtis is an American attorney, computer programmer and ex-employee of NASA and ExxonMobil, who also exposed election hacking.
He is notable chiefly for making a series of whistleblower allegations about his former employer and about Republican Congressman Tom Feeney, including an allegation that in 2000, Feeney and Yang Enterprises requested Curtis’s assistance in a scheme to steal votes by inserting fraudulent code into touch screen voting systems.
‘Wake up!’ Former Moonie says the ‘Cult of Trump’ needs ‘deprogramming’ – MarketWatch
Hassan, who is out with his book, “The Cult of Trump,” explained to CNN Sunday why he thinks the president uses mind control as a way to build his power.
“We can start with the pathological lying, which is characteristic of destructive cult leaders,” Hassan told host Brian Stelter. “The blaming others and never taking responsibility for his own failures and faults. Shunning and kicking out anyone who raises questions or concerns about his own behavior.”
He also said that Trump’s use of “fearmongering” is a “horrible thing” that’s straight out of the cult leader’s playbook. “Wake up! This is what’s happening,” Hassan said. “Our Democracy is at stake here.”
Bolivia: How Anez Nullified 13 Years of Morales Govt’s Achievements in One Week
A 2009 constitutional reform stripped the Catholic Church of its special status as the Bolivian state religion proclaiming “the freedom of religion and spiritual beliefs, in accordance to every individual’s cosmovisions” and making the state “independent from religion”.
However, on the day of her self-proclamation as the interim head of the state Anez publicly spoke with the Catholic Bible in her hands claiming that “He [God] allowed the Bible to return to the government palace”.
Earlier, one of the coup’s leaders, the head of the Santa Cruz paramilitary organisation Luis Fernando Camacho, entered the government palace after Morales’ resignation together with a priest and placed a Bible on the Bolivian flag. For his part, the priest proclaimed that “Bolivia belongs to God” and that the Pachamama, a goddess revered by the indigenous people in the country, would never return to it.
Then why, after all these years, is the company still financing advocacy groups, think tanks, and business associations that reject the reality and seriousness of the climate crisis, as well as members of Congress who deny the science and oppose efforts to rein in carbon emissions?
According to the company’s latest grantmaking report, it gave $772,500 to 10 such groups in 2018, which does not include its annual dues to trade groups such as the American Petroleum Institute, which opposes a carbon tax. In addition, ExxonMobil continued to promote gridlock directly on Capitol Hill. Two-thirds of the $1.65 million it spent on congressional election campaigns during the 2017-18 election cycle went to climate sciencedeniers.
This week, the Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC) published a bombshell article revealing troubling emails that White House senior policy advisor Stephen Miller sent to editors at Breitbart News, the far-right media outlet previously led by Steve Bannon.
The emails, which were leaked by former Breitbart editor Katie McHugh and predate Miller’s period in the White House, show Miller’s obsession with immigration and his seemingly successful attempts to get Breitbart editors to write anti-immigration stories, some of which were based on openly white nationalist sources like American Renaissance and V-Dare.
The widespread public outrage in response to the revelations is understandable. Miller is the longest serving senior advisor to President Trump who is not related to the president, and is believed to be the architect of the White House’s draconian anti-immigration policies, which doesn’t just target “illegal immigration” but also aims to return to the country to the infamously racist immigration policy of the early 20th century.
Walmart Pork Found To Have “Superbug” Bacteria Resistant To Antibiotics – NationalAddictionNews.com
A new study published by animal-welfare group World Animal Protection has arrived at some stunning findings about pork products begin sold at Walmart.
The report, published by FoodDive, found that pork samples purchased from Walmart contained “superbug” antibiotic-resistant bacteria. 80% of samples tested from Mid-Atlantic Walmart stores were resistant to at least one antibiotic. Additionally, 37% of the bacteria in the Walmart samples were resistant to three or more classes of antibiotics.
In sum, about 27% of the resistant bacteria found on Walmart’s pork were resistant to classes categorized as Highest Priority Critically Important Antimicrobials by the World Health Organization.
Global Auto Sales Expected To Crash More Than After The Financial Crisis | Zero Hedge
The global auto industry continues to deteriorate, namely due to broke consumers after a decade of low-interest rates and endless incentives.
The auto slowdown has sparked manufacturing recessions across the world, including manufacturing hubs in the US, Germany, India, and China. A prolonged downturn will likely result in stagnate global growth as world trade continues to decelerate into 2020.
The Fitch Ratings economics team published a new report earlier this week, first reported by CNBC, outlining how global auto sales are expected to crash at a rate not seen since the last financial crisis
Antibiotic resistant superbugs kill 32 plane-loads of people a week. We can all help fight back
You might think antibiotic resistance is something to worry about in the distant future. But it’s already having a deadly impact today.
The number of people dying globally every week from antibiotic resistant infections is equivalent to 32 Boeing 747s full of people. And if that sounds scary, the projections for the future are even scarier.
Boris Johnson’s Tory Party Manifesto Vows to Ban Boycott Campaigns (BDS) against Israel
Commenting on the Conservative Party pledge, PSC director Ben Jamal condemned proposals to ban public bodies from participating in boycotts.
“The Israeli government, with the support of the [US President Donald] Trump administration, is running roughshod over international law and ramping up its human rights violations against Palestinians,” Jamal told Middle East Eye.
“In this context, the Conservative Party should be committing the UK to implement its responsibilities to hold Israel to account, rather than seeking to prevent public bodies from making ethical decisions not to invest their money in supporting Israeli apartheid.”
Last year, the UK Court of Appeal ruled in the government’s favour, declaring lawful a ban on local government pension schemes divesting from companies involved in Israel’s illegal occupation of Palestinian territories.
Tesla Cybertruck captured driving on public road – real or CGI? | The Driven
The Tesla Cybertruck launched last Friday is not due to go into production until 2021 but it appears that one lucky spotter has already captured video of the rule-breaking electric utility truck near Tesla’s Hawthorne design studio.
It’s a reality-jarring capture, drawing the exclamation “What the heck!” from Instagram user @chicago_roy who apparently shot the video of the Cybertruck just days after the launch of Tesla CEO and co-founder Elon Musk’s “pet project”.
Is Canola Oil Bad for You? Dangers, Substitutes and More – Dr. Axe
Why is canola oil so bad for you? For three main reasons, most canola oil today can be very harmful to your body:
Over 90 percent of canola oil is genetically modified.
Canola oil is a refined oil that’s often partially hydrogenated to increase its stability, but this increases its negative health effects.
It’s been linked to increased inflammation in animal studies, and chronic inflammation is believed to be at the root of most diseases.
It’s for these two reasons that I recommend you switch to healthier oil alternatives that I list below.
What can it do to you? There have been no long-term, viable studies done on GMO canola oil, but there are reports that it has caused many kidney, liver and neurological health issues.
This makes sense since there are other reports that GMO products like corn and soy also can cause negative health effects. So if you’re comparing soy or corn oil vs canola oil, I would say avoid them all!
Is vegetable oil bad for you? According to the Weston A. Price Foundation and fat experts Sally Fallon and Mary Enig:
Like all modern vegetable oils, canola oil goes through the process of refining, bleaching and degumming — all of which involve high temperatures or chemicals of questionable safety. And because canola oil is high in omega-3 fatty acids, which easily become rancid and foul-smelling when subjected to oxygen and high temperatures, it must be deodorized. The standard deodorization process removes a large portion of the omega-3 fatty acids by turning them into trans fatty acids.
Why Is Israel Not Being Held to the Same International Standards as All Other UN Member States? – – Centre for Research on Globalization
Why is Israel not subject to the regulation and inspection of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) of the United Nations?
Why is Israel not a party to the nuclear Non Proliferation Treaty (NPT).
Why is Israel not a party to the Organisation for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW)?
Why is Israel not a party to the Chemical Weapons Convention (CWC)?
Why is Israel not a party to the Biological Weapons Convention (BWC)?
Why is Israel allowed to ignore UN Security Council Resolution (UNSCR) 2334 which states that ‘Israel’s Settlements Have No Legal Validity and Constitute a Flagrant Violation of International Law’ and which requires the removal of all illegal settlements in the Occupied Territories?
Why is Israel allowed to maintain an inhuman, 11-year illegal blockade of essential goods and services against 1.8 million civilians in Gaza, now virtually without electricity 24/7 and kept near to starvation and collapse, in an Israeli bid to illegally force regime change?
Why is Israel allowed to illegally occupy the Syrian Golan Heights?
Why is Israel allowed to illegally occupy the old city of Arab East Jerusalem?
Why is Israel allowed to have induced 600,000 of its citizens to illegally occupy the Palestinian West Bank in violation of the Geneva Conventions on Human Rights?
Why is the state of Israel uniquely in the world today allowed to violate international law and United Nations Resolutions with impunity?
Why is the Israel Lobby allowed to infiltrate the US Congress, the British Parliament and other legislative councils worldwide when Israel is in gross breach of international law on a daily basis? Why?
After rising for a century, average life expectancy in the U.S. is now declining. And for those in the bottom 90% of the income distribution, real (inflation-adjusted) wages have stagnated: the income of a typical male worker today is around where it was 40 years ago.
Meanwhile, many European countries have sought to emulate America, and those that succeeded, particularly the U.K., are now suffering similar political and social consequences.
Unlike neoliberalism, progressive capitalism is based on a proper understanding of how value is created today. The true and sustainable wealth of nations comes not from exploiting countries, natural resources, and people, but from human ingenuity and cooperation, often facilitated by governments and civil-society institutions.
US Provides Military Aid To More Than 70 Percent Of World’s Dictatorships
About three-quarters of the world’s dictatorships currently receive military assistance from the United States. This is a strange record for a nation that consistently justifies its sweeping foreign interventions as aimed at “promoting democracy” and “thwarting evil dictatorships.”
In the Cold War it was “He may be a son of a bitch, but he’s our son of a bitch.” Current analysis shows the U.S. militarily assisting dictators the world over, calling it “promoting democracy,” and disingenuously wondering why it’s all going so badly.
Rich Whitney, an attorney and writer, sought to compare Freedom House’s rating system of political rights for 2015 to the U.S. government’s provision of military assistance – military training, military aid and weapons sales – to foreign nations that same year. Whitney’s stated goal was to determine whether the U.S. government actually opposes dictatorships and champions democracy at a global level, as is often claimed. His independent analysis found that the U.S. has actually manifested the opposite of its stated intention, by providing military assistance to 36 of the world’s 49 dictatorships. In other words, more than 73% of the world’s dictatorships currently receive military assistance from the United States.
Dangerous radioactive hot particles span the globe — Beyond Nuclear International | Japan Safety : Nuclear Energy Updates
” When reactors exploded and melted down at the Fukushima nuclear power complex in March 2011, they launched radioactivity from their ruined cores into the unprotected environment. Some of this toxic radioactivity was in the form of hot particles (radioactive microparticles) that congealed and became airborne by attaching to dusts and traveling great distances.
However, the Fukushima disaster is only the most recent example of atomic power and nuclear weapons sites creating and spreading these microparticles. Prior occurrences include various U.S. weapons sites and the ruined Chernobyl reactor. While government and industry cover up this hazard, community volunteer citizen science efforts – collaborations between scientists and community volunteers – are tracking the problem to raise awareness of its tremendous danger in Japan and across the globe.
