central balkansThe Ustasha and the Rising Tide of Neo-Nazi Politics in Croatia
By Nenad Dumanovic and Daniel Jankovic, July 13 2016
Over the past several years, analysts have noticed a rising tide of domestic support for the Croatian homegrown Nazi movement of the Second World War, the Ustashe, which actively exterminated Serbs, Jews, and Roma in the territory it controlled from 1941-45.
*The following is an opinion column by R Muse *For some people, the concept of shame escapes them when it comes to their native country despite national actions that should embarrass them mercilessly. Americans, typically, are so full of hubris when it comes to anything related to America that they appear incapable of being ashamed of anything that happens no matter how despicable, including not being capable of protecting its own citizens.
It is probably true that in an effort to protect their citizenry, every country on Earth’s government issues warnings and advisories to stay clear of dangerous areas. The United States government, although incapable of protecting its citizens from gun violence and rogue authorities on domestic soil, is quick to warn its citizens to steer clear of nations known to have civil unrest, war zones or police or military forces prone to violence. In fact, just…

A British parliamentary report released on Tuesday has concluded there is “historical evidence” the Islamic State (IS) group received funding from within Arab Gulf states. In evidence submitted to the foreign affairs select committee, the Ministry of Defence said: “[There] is historical evidence of financial donations to Daesh [IS] from within Gulf states. Furthermore, it is understood that family donations are being made to Daesh, through the unregulated Alternative Value Transfer Systems (AVTS).”AVTS include ways of globally transferring money that includes little information about the individuals involved in the transaction – examples include the open source online currency Bitcoin. The MoD cited as evidence an incident in September 2014 when an IS official was sanctioned by the US Treasury Department after receiving a $2m donation “emanating from the Gulf”.The MoD also said in its evidence that private donations to IS are “minimal” compared to its other revenue streams, which include oil and taxation.
|We the undersigned urge your support – including your voice and your vote – for Jill Stein for President on the Green Party line as an essential, urgent step to continue building a true American revolution.
A movement for democracy and justice is sweeping the planet – from Occupy Wall Street to the Arab Spring to the Black Lives Matter movement. People are rising up to halt the neoliberal assault, calling for an America and a world that works for all of us. While our movement is winning important victories – notably for living wages and against fossil fuel infrastructure – the economic elite have only tightened their grip. People are realizing that if we want to fix the rigged economy, the rigged racial injustice system, the rigged energy system and more, we must also fix the rigged political system.
The toxic 2016 Presidential election is yet another manifestation of the desperate need for deep change. Many have flocked to the banner of socialism and equality raised by the Sanders campaign, while conservative voters have rejected the illusions peddled by Republican elites. Meanwhile the two corporate parties have anointed the two most disliked politicians in the country to be their standard bearers this November.
Jill Stein’s Power to the People agenda reflects many of the domestic policies of the Sanders campaign – income equality, climate justice, free public higher education, Medicare for All, immigrant rights, racial justice and an end to mass incarceration. In other areas, Stein goes much further than Sanders, calling for the cancellation of student debt, full public financing of elections, and the creation of public banks. Her rapid transition to 100% renewable energy by 2030 makes wars for oil obsolete, enabling a 50% cut in the dangerously bloated military budget which has made us less safe, not more safe. Stein offers a foreign policy based on international law and human rights, not economic and military domination that has proven so catastrophic.
While support for the Sanders campaign surpasses that of all other campaigns, the elites of the Democratic Party have stacked party rules to sabotage his campaign, like principled and powerful grassroots candidates before him. The Democratic Party is proving once again that you can’t have a revolutionary campaign in a counter-revolutionary party.
Each time a challenger such as Jesse Jackson, Dennis Kucinich and Sanders inspired hope among progressives for change, Democratic Party leaders sabotaged the effort. All the while, the Democratic Party has continued to march to the right, becoming more corporatist, imperialist and militarist in spite of its inspired progressive electoral campaigns. The party’s trajectory has been to fake left, but go right.
Why would Bernie Sanders support Hillary Clinton, after all of the dirty tricks played on him in the primary elections, with millions of votes never counted? Why would he support her, with the DNC never adopting a single platform he proposed? Why would he support her, knowing that as an Independent, he commands the largest single political party in the US? Independents are approximately 50 percent of the registered voters now, way ahead of either the Democrats or Republicans who share the leftover remainder of fearful voters, who end up voting for the ‘lesser of two evils’ rather than a pure uncorrupted political candidate.

CLIMATE – ho hum – according to the mainstream media, well, climate just wasn’t an issue in the recent election. NUCLEAR – a South Australian special. The Weatherill Labor government organised 4 days of a so-called “Citizens’ Jury”. It was run by small South Australianall-female firm DemocracyCo. They probably shouldn’t have taken the job on, seeing that it was firmly set that this would not be any kind of a real jury. The job of the Citizens’ Jury was to make no verdict, no recommendations, but just to produce a summary of the Nuclear Fuel Cycle Royal Commission’s recommendations .
Which they did. Premier Weatherill is now touting their report as if it were the decisions of…

Several Israeli military vehicles invaded, on Monday at dawn, Palestinian agricultural lands, east of Khan Younis city, in the southern part of the Gaza Strip.
Eyewitnesses said four Israeli tanks, and three bulldozers, advanced more than 150 meters into the Palestinian lands, bulldozed some of them, and installed sand hills, close to the border fence.
They added that the Israeli vehicles came from the Kissufim military base, across the border fence, and fired many smoke bombs during the invasion.
The invasion is part of repeated Israeli violations targeting the Palestinians and their lands in border areas, in the northern and eastern parts of the coastal region.
The soldiers frequently prevent the farmers from working on their own lands, in addition to constant violations against Gaza fishers in Palestinian territorial waters.
On Monday at dawn, the army invaded ‘Aida refugee…

From The Hill.com:The revolution continues: Plan ‘B’ for the Bernie movement By Jill SteinMillions of hearts were breaking today, as Bernie Sanders delivered his long expected endorsement of Hillary Clinton, with notably less enthusiasm than the passion of his usual stump speech that followed.Though Bernie urged his supporters to forget the past and focus on the future, we’d forget the past at our peril. We cannot forget the triumph of Bernie’s campaign, and the hunger of the public for an economy that works for working people, not just the billionaires. My campaign offers people hope. Our Green New Deal is a plan to create 20 million living wage jobs while solving the climate crisis. Our call to abolish student debt provides millions of young people trapped by debt that failed to produce the jobs they promised. We can finally make health care a human right.Within hours of Bernie’s endorsement, thousands of supporters have joined us on Facebook and $27 dollar contributions have surged as Sanders supporters refuse to be “berned” by a Democratic Party that hopes to absorb their revolution into a campaign that represents the opposite of what they and Bernie Sanders have fought for.The consistent efforts of the Democratic Party to minimize, sideline, and sabotage the Sanders campaign are a wakeup call that we can’t have a revolutionary campaign inside a counter-revolutionary party. The policies Ms. Clinton has fought for — along with her partner Bill Clinton — were the foundations of the economic disaster most Americans are still struggling with: the abuses of deregulated Wall Street, rigged corporate trade agreements, racist mass incarceration, and the destruction of the social safety net for poor women and children. The Democrats for decades have increasingly campaigned on the politics of fear, of promoting a lesser-of-two-evils strategy for voting because “the Republicans are even worse.” But that politics of fear has brought us everything we were afraid of.

“Attachment is the great fabricator of illusions; reality can be attained only by someone who is detached” – Simone Weil
The Buddha taught that attachment, which is the desire to hold on to a permanent state or keep a thing or person, generates craving, wanting, and insecurity, and he believed it is one of the main causes of human suffering.
Non-attachment, on the other hand, aims to cultivate a mind free from these limiting desires. Once we do this we can then move towards a mind of oneness, which involves compassion, clarity of vision, and an understanding of impermanence.
Not only do humans become attached to physical objects or things, but also to relationships, ideas, opinions, and success and failure. Most the of problems we face as a species and planet are a direct result of our attachment to one or more of these things.
The case presented by the nuclear dumpsters is dissolving. Outspoken opposition from traditional owners is exposing, as a racist charade, the government’s attempts to manufacture “consent”.
The people of the upper Spencer Gulf cities will not be reconciled to having trainloads of lethal wastes rumbling past their doors for the next century. And the economic case for the dump scheme would merit an “F” in any respectable business course.
Nuclear waste dump case unravels, World News Report, 13 July 16 , Green Left By Renfrey Clarke Armed with the findings of the Nuclear Fuel Cycle Royal Commission, South Australian Labor Premier Jay Weatherill is pressing ahead with plans to import as much as a third of the world’s high-level nuclear reactor waste and store it in the state’s outback.
There are compelling reasons to reject it. The project, it now emerges, could go ahead only over resistance from Indigenous traditional…

We just broke the record for hottest year, nine straight times http://www.skepticalscience.com/broke-hottest-year-record-9-straight-times.html 11 July 2016 by dana1981
2014 and 2015 each set the record for hottest calendar year since we began measuringsurface temperatures over 150 years ago, and 2016 is almost certain to break the record once again. It will be without precedent: the first time that we’ve seen three consecutive record-breaking hot years.
But it’s just happenstance that the calendar year begins in January, and so it’s also informative to compare all yearlong periods. In doing so, it becomes clear that we’re living in astonishingly hot times.
June 2015 through May 2016 was the hottest 12-month period on record. That was also true of May 2015 through April 2016, and the 12 months ending in March 2016. In fact, it’s true for every 12 months going all the way back to the period ending in September 2015, according…

Alva Braziel shot 10 times reportedly with hands in the air.
Despite national and international outcry against the recent police killings of two Black men in the United States, another Black man was shot dead by Houston police Saturday night in a killing that was caught on camera that shows the man with his arms up, surrendering to police officers.
Alva Braziel was shot 10 times by the police near a gas station in what the police say was a justified shooting because the man had a firearm and was pointing it at them.
However, surveillance video, reportedly taken from the nearby gas station and circulated on social media showed Braziel standing in the street as he raised his arms above his head being shot within seconds of the police arriving.
According to police spokeswoman Jodi Silva, Braziel was pointing a firearm at the sky, reported Newsweek.
Ben Bernanke is one of the most dangerous men walking the planet. In this age of central bank domination of economic life he is surely the pied piper of monetary ruin.
At least since 2002 he has been talking about “helicopter money” as if a notion which is pure economic quackery actually had some legitimate basis. But strip away the pseudo scientific jargon, and it amounts to monetization of the public debt—–the very oldest form of something for nothing economics.
Back then, of course, Ben’s jabbering about helicopter money was taken to be some sort of theoretical metaphor about the ultimate powers of central bankers, and especially their ability to forestall the boogey-man of “deflation”.
Indeed, Bernanke was held to be a leading economic scholar of the Great Depression and a disciple of Milton Friedman’s claim that Fed stringency during 1930-1932 had caused it. This is complete poppycock, as I demonstrated in The Great Deformation, but it did give an air of plausibility and even conservative pedigree to a truly stupid and dangerous idea.
If I were to say “we are all one,” that might immediately cause our minds to protest. How can we all be one? You’re over there and I’m over here. Even after you say “we are all one,” we remain separate, many. Therefore how are we all one?
I’ve just done a meditation in which I joined with my twin flame and another person – N – and we all exchanged our love. The time it took love to make the circuit became shorter and shorter and, in the face of it, all that was not love fell away or disintegrated.
It became immediately apparent that how we are all one is that we are all love and love is all we are. Any boundary between me, my twin and N was blown away and we were shown to be nothing else and nothing other than love.

Piling on to Italy’s growing mountain of worries, this evening the IMF itself warned that Europe’s third largest economy would grow by less than 1% this year and only marginally faster in 2017, slashing its previous forecasts of 1.1% and 1.25% growth for the next two years, mostly as a result of the most convenient scapegoat available in Europe at the moment: Brexit (which has become to Europe as “cold weather” has been to the US for the past two years).
Christine Lagarde’s organization said Italy was “recovering gradually from a deep and protracted recession”, but said the healing process was likely to be “prolonged and subject to risks”. It used its article IV consultation – an annual economic and financial health check – to stress that Italy was vulnerable to a cocktail of threats that could have knock-on effects for the rest of Europe and the world.
The IMF dour outlook may be overly generous. While economists have been racing to downgrade Italy’s outlook since the British referendum, Italy’s own employers’ lobby Confindustria now sees growth of just 0.8% this year dropping further to 0.6% in 2017. Italy, long one of Europe’s most sluggish economies, will struggle to close the gap with its peers even if recent reforms are fully implemented, the IMF report said.

You have probably heard about chakras – or maybe seen them as visualized colorful circles running down the areas of the human body.
But in reality, what is the meaning of a chakra? Or more importantly, do these areas exist and have effect on our personal lives?
The truth is, chakras are elements of our energy. Now, every body has an energy field which is in tight bond with the earth’s energy field but also makes us unique.
According to science and religions such as Hinduism, Buddhism and Taoism, our energy is placed along our bundles of arteries, nerves and veins, creating a life force grid, in the form of energy wheels called chakras.

The veterans from the Vietnam War have suffered on so many levels and most of society could care less……many suffered from PTSD….some from Agent Orange…..many fro night sweats….and from memories that will not die……but they are having to deal with one more situation……SUICIDES!
On July 7, the Veterans Health Administration released new data about veterans’ suicides, based upon examination of over 55 million veteran records from 1979 to 2014 from every state in the nation and U.S. territories. While much of the buzz around veteran suicide has focused on veterans emerging out of the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, this new report showed that 65% of all veterans who died from suicide in 2014 were 50 years of age or older. In fact, 45% of veteran suicides in 2014 were aged 60 and older.
These are deeply disturbing statistics, especially for those of us in the Vietnam cohort. As the…
