Public Health Officials Know: Recently Vaccinated Individuals Spread Disease – CNBC
Washington, D.C., March 3, 2015 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — Physicians and public health officials know that recently vaccinated individuals can spread disease and that contact with the immunocompromised can be especially dangerous. For example, the Johns Hopkins Patient Guide warns the immunocompromised to “Avoid contact with children who are recently vaccinated,” and to “Tell friends and family who are sick, or have recently had a live vaccine (such as chicken pox, measles, rubella, intranasal influenza, polio or smallpox) not to visit.”1
A statement on the website of St. Jude’s Hospital warns parents not to allow people to visit children undergoing cancer treatment if they have received oral polio or smallpox vaccines within four weeks, have received the nasal flu vaccine within one week, or have rashes after receiving the chickenpox vaccine or MMR (measles, mumps, rubella) vaccine.2
“The public health community is blaming unvaccinated children for the outbreak of measles at Disneyland, but the illnesses could just as easily have occurred due to contact with a recently vaccinated individual,” says Sally Fallon Morell, president of the Weston A. Price Foundation. The Foundation promotes a healthy diet, non-toxic lifestyle and freedom of medical choice for parents and their children. “Evidence indicates that recently vaccinated individuals should be quarantined in order to protect the public.”
Radiate Love | Heavenletters
Beloved, My Beautiful Beloved. There are no ifs, ands, or buts about the splendor of love deep and wide in the One Heart of Existence. I hold you in the Highest. This is a given. My joy and your joy are here to radiate equally in expression. Who are you if you are not I? Who am I if I am not you? Oneness is to behold and to look like waves in the ocean.
I declare that you are the sum and substance of all. This is love, how it is. Love prevails. Love and Oneness are One and the same. This is It. Make somersaults now. Swing on a star. What can be as good as the radiance of love? Love is the sum total of life. Love is it. Sweep up love. What is My Will but for Endless Love to swing from star to star and to sweep you up the way a beautiful bride greets herself on her wedding day forever and ever.
I do not fool around about love as a revelation, love prominent, love provided and love exchanged in every heart, love swinging in the breeze, love landing on its feet and soaring in every heart to beat the band. Not one single child of Mine is to miss out on love. I will not have it. Understand My love as I accede to loving you happily.
Of course, it would mean a lot to Me for you to know that you are love. Beloved, it’s not that you do love. You are love. Be the call of love from the treetops. Do you hear Me calling to you?

“That energy could be turned into feeding the people, cleaning up our communities and figuring out what else we can do,” he continued in reference to the teens who harassed him. “We need the young people to be doing that instead of saying: ‘These guys are our enemies.’ ”
“It clearly demonstrates the validity of our concerns about the marginalization and disrespect of Indigenous peoples, and it shows that traditional knowledge is being ignored by those who should listen most closely,” Darren Thompson, an organizer for the group, said in the statement.

Trump’s Shutdown Is a Savage Assault on the Working Class – VICE
“Trump basically views peoples’ worth by how powerful they are, and the fact that Trump can stiff you proves that it’s OK for Trump to stiff you,” Jeff Hauser, founder and director of the Revolving Door Project at the Center for Economic and Policy Research and a former AFL-CIO strategist, told me Tuesday, adding, “He’s a got a very radical social eugenics view of the world. He thinks there are superior and inferior people, and he believes people who work in government are sort of necessarily inferior.” (Full disclosure: As a writer and editor at VICE, I am a member of the Writers Guild of America-East, an AFL-CIO affiliate.)
Of course, it’s not exactly novel for a Republican to despise—or be cruel to—public employees, who have historically skewed somewhat less white than the population at large. Ronald Reagan famously crushed the air-traffic controllers’ union in 1981, firing over 11,000 people who refused to return to work and banning them from government employment for the rest of their lives. The Supreme Court has, for decades, been trending toward bosses and away from workers—thanks in no small part to the emergence of anti-union conservative institutions, think tanks, and political action committees funded by billionaires. This culminated over the past year in a cascade of devastating decisions for workers and the unions that represent them, whether the Epic Systems ruling that made it easier for your boss to steal from employees or the Janus case that made it way harder for public-sector unions to collectively bargain.
“Despite claims he made on the campaign trail—where he would put workers’ interest first—over and over and over again, every decision he made, he’s put corporate interests over those of workers,” Heidi Shierholz, senior economist and director of policy at the left-leaning Economy Policy Institute and a veteran of the Obama administration, told me. “So we know where his ultimate loyalty lies—it’s with the 1 percent, not with the rest of America.”
Evangelical University Praises IT Chief Who Allegedly Participated In Trump Poll Fraud | HuffPost
Liberty University, an evangelical institution in Virginia with a long history of activism supporting Donald Trump, has reiterated its support for its employee John Gauger, who allegedly struck business deals with the president’s embattled former lawyer Michael Cohen.
Gauger, the university’s chief information officer and vice president of analytics, is also the owner of the tech company RedFinch Solutions. On Thursday, The Wall Street Journal reported that Cohen hired RedFinch in 2015 to rig online polls in Trump’s favor.
In a post on Twitter, Cohen acknowledged the poll rigging and said he ordered it “at the direction of and for the sole benefit of” Trump.
Native American elder confronted by teens in MAGA hats speaks out | TheHill
Nathan Phillips, the Omaha elder who was confronted and harassed by teenagers in Make America Great Again hats spoke out Saturday, saying “it was getting ugly.”
Phillips, a Vietnam veteran, was singing the American Indian Movement song of unity near Friday’s March for Life when was surrounded by the teens who he says were chanting “build that wall, build that wall” as he was playing his drum, according to an Instagram video.
“It was getting ugly, and I was thinking: ‘I’ve got to find myself an exit out of this situation and finish my song at the Lincoln Memorial,’ ” Phillips told the Washington Post. “I started going that way, and that guy in the hat stood in my way and we were at an impasse. He just blocked my way and wouldn’t allow me to retreat.”
Donald Trump’s Mafia Connections: Decades Later, Is He Still Linked to the Mob?
Trump’s descent into the gangland may have begun with Roy Cohn, the ruthless lawyer whom Trump hired to help navigate the bare-knuckle New York real estate business. Long notorious for helping Senator Joseph McCarthy unleash the 1950s “red scare” that ruined the careers of scores of Hollywood figures, federal workers and journalists, Cohn in the 1970s represented leaders of the Vito Genovese crime family during a federal racketeering investigation. As it turns out, around the same time Fuller was interviewing Trump in 1976, Cohn was adding a former Connecticut attorney general to his law firm who, on the side, was representing a local mobster by the name of Andrew D’Amato in a bid to buy the Fontainebleau. Looking back on the events years later, Fuller says, “I presume that Miami’s knowledge of D’Amato’s efforts to purchase the Fontainebleau hotel is what led them to Trump.” In 1977, D’Amato was convicted of conspiracy in a financial swindling scheme in Hawaii with other known mobsters. Now in his 90s, D’Amato did not respond to messages left at his home in Connecticut.
Russia’s intelligence services, oligarchs and gangsters are seamlessly connected, according to multiple news accounts through the years. And since the collapse of the Soviet Union in 1991, the Russian mob has made huge inroads into the American underworld, sometimes forming alliances of convenience with La Cosa Nostra. As a teenager, Trump’s future lawyer Cohen, The Wall Street Journal reported last year, “frequented Brooklyn’s ethnic Russian neighborhoods and married into a Ukrainian family.” At a friend’s wedding, he “bragged to another guest that he belonged to the Russian mob.” The friend didn’t believe it, but when Trump pursued a hotel deal in Moscow, Cohen was dispatched to seal the deal, working through shady characters to offer Putin a top-floor penthouse, according to BuzzFeed News.
The Trump Organization had long been awash in illicit Russian money, author Craig Unger claimed in a 2018 book, House of Trump, House of Putin: The Untold Story of Donald Trump and the Russian Mafia. “It started out as a simple money-laundering operation at Trump Tower in 1984, when a Russian mobster came to Trump Tower with $6 million in cash and bought five condos. This is the template for what begins to unfold. At least 1,300 Trump condos in the United States have been sold similarly. All cash purchases through anonymous sources,” Unger told Newsweek last August.
If democratic socialism is so bad, why is Norway so great?
The spectacular upset victory of Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez in her recent New York congressional primary election has catapulted the topic of democratic socialism to the top of America’s political discussion. Conservatives have argued that the leftist politics of Ocasio-Cortez represent a policy program guaranteed to fail, and a sure electoral loser for Democrats. (Plenty of moderate liberals, including my colleague Damon Linker, have cosigned the latter part of that argument, too.)
Let’s set aside electoral politics for now and focus solely on democratic socialist policies. Helpfully, we have a country that very closely approximates the democratic socialist ideal. It’s a place that is not only very far from a hellish dystopia, but also considerably more successful than the United States on virtually every social metric one can name.
Enjoying President Trump? Then Blame Democrats For Cheating Bernie Sanders | HuffPost
It must be tough being part of the Democratic public relations machine, knowing that every Clinton scandal resulted in a Trump presidency. Combine that with the knowledge that Bernie Sanders was cheated for a candidate who lost to Trump and we have the autopsy of an election buried with regret.
The fact that Clinton didn’t address the concerns of Bernie voters is one of the many reasons Democrats lost. In addition, Bernie Sanders would have defeated Trump because Wisconsin, Michigan and Pennsylvania haven’t voted for a GOP candidate since the 1980’s. With a united Democratic Party around a populist candidate like Bernie Sanders (if that’s possible with a Democratic Party influenced by neocons and corporate lobbyists), these states would have again voted Democrat.
Have Democrats learned? Hardly. Now Chelsea Clinton is poised to take control of the Democratic Party, as I explain here. With the Clinton dynasty one of the causes of Trump’s White House, it’s bizarre to see Democrats rally around Chelsea Clinton.
Ignoring the past means repeating the same mistakes in the future. If Democrats elect a centrist in 2020, America will get eight years of Trump.
As many of you have a focus of creating vibrant health for yourselves, we wish to discuss the vibrational state of food with you today.
One of the reasons modern food has become far less sustaining than ever before is the lack of love that has gone into its preparation. As food started to be mass produced it became more of a business of profit and the vibration of the food changed to reflect that shift. It is the same with fast food – it is food prepared to meet the criteria of speed and convenience, but is lacking the energy of love.
When things are mass produced they can often come with the energetic stamp of indifference. If the worker really didn’t want to be there, it can hold the energy of resentment or that the preparation of it was a chore.
In older times food was grown with purpose and prepared with love. That, combined with the practice of blessing the food or saying grace before a meal, resulted in food being presented not only with the intention of it sustaining everyone, but it held a higher vibration, regardless of what the food was due to its handling and presentation. It was also used as a tool for connection, which further supported its loving vibration.
So as you move forward in your desire to love and support yourselves and the ones you love, we urge you to make love the main ingredient of your food. Grow your own food with love or choose to buy food that was grown with care and responsibility. Cook with love and the intention for connection. Thank your food. Bless your food and those who provided it for you.
Before you eat, ask if the choice you are making is loving to you and your body. Ask your body what it needs and be sure to give it to it. And, if you cannot access food that you feel is made with love for whatever reason, infuse it with your own love knowing that your blessing of it will create a vibrational change that makes it far better for you. There is nothing that will make your cells shimmer more vibrantly than the ingestion of food that holds the energy of love. ~Archangel Gabriel through Shelley Young
Dear Ones, we understand trust can be a very difficult element for you. But please understand when you choose to try to navigate without trust you are choosing resistance to your now moment without any basis for doing so. Further, your lack of trust shifts your attention from your own space of creation to a timeline that holds what you do not want. Then when things don’t go well in the way you feared you will exclaim, “See? I knew it!”
Trust is what allows the unfoldment of the true potential of any given circumstance. If you haven’t employed trust to see what something can become, you haven’t given it a fair chance. It is like planting seeds and then refusing to water them because you convince yourself they aren’t going to grow anyway.
Isn’t it time to see where trust can bring you? If you have trouble with the energy of trust, why not simply shift into the affirmation, “God is guiding me now” and see where you are led? Trust is what allows you to be guided to the experiences you are yearning for.
Due to societal conditioning and your experiences before as unconscious creators, trust is an aspect that has been shunned and due to this is rather underdeveloped. But you are ready to move forward now and hone your skill of trust as it is the key to discovering your highest potentials in all areas of your life. It is the power tool of conscious co-creation. ~Archangel Gabriel through Shelley Young
Nancy Pelosi says Trump wants to ‘abolish’ Congress
WASHINGTON – House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) suggested in a Sunday sit-down that President Trump would like to “abolish” Congress.
“The impression you get from the president is he would like to not only close government, build a wall, but also abolish Congress, so the only voice that mattered was his own,” Pelosi said in an interview with “CBS Sunday Morning” host Jane Pauley.
The Children’s Health Defense Team: Fluoridation Must End
According to Robert Kennedy’s team, “U.S. officialdom persists in making hollow claims that water fluoridation is safe and beneficial, choosing to ignore even its own research… Dozens of studies and reviews… have shown that fluoride is neurotoxic and lowers children’s IQ.”
They stated, “A multimillion-dollar longitudinal study published in Environmental Health Perspectives in September, 2017, for example, was largely funded by the National Institutes of Health and National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences—and the seminal study revealed a strong relationship between fluoride exposure in pregnant women and lowered cognitive function in offspring.”
Of particular importance is that the fluoride levels in this study are expected to be the same for women living in communities that fluoridate their drinking water.

Rogue Nuclear Regulator Jaczko Slams Nukes as No-Go f/Global Warming Fix
Greg Jaczko, the former Chair of the Nuclear Regulatory Commission, has published an explosive new book: Confessions of a Rogue Nuclear Regulator. In it, he gets honest with the American people about the dangers of nuclear technology, which he labels “failed,” “dangerous,” “not reliable.” He particularly comes down against nuclear as having any part in mitigating the problems of climate change/global warming. In this extended Nuclear Hotseat interview, Jaczko brings us inside the NRC’s response to Fukushima, the “precipice” on which nuclear safety balances, his own growing doubts about how safe nuclear reactors are in the United States, and how, ultimately, it was that concern with safety that probably brought him dow

Americans Deserve Better than the USDA’s GMO Labeling Law | Living Non-GMO : The Non-GMO Project
After a lengthy delay, the USDA published the final National Bioengineered Food Disclosure Standard (NBFDS) in the Federal Register on December 21. This law, which you may have heard called the DARK Act, is the start of mandatory GMO labeling in the United States. It means that some—but not all—products containing GMOs will have to be labeled by 2022.
While the Non-GMO Project supports mandatory labeling, we are disappointed by the content of the final rule. It does not do enough to protect consumers and it does not offer American families the transparency they have been calling for.
As you know, consumers have been demanding meaningful GMO labeling for more than 20 years. Fifty-four GMO labeling bills landed on ballots in 26 states, and consumers in Connecticut, Maine, and Vermont successfully passed statewide labeling legislation. Unfortunately, the NBFDS took those hard-earned wins away from consumers by rolling back existing state laws and preventing any future state-level GMO labeling.

The Lincoln Memorial During the Government Shutdown – The Atlantic
During the Civil War, the government never shut down—not even when the capital was threatened by Confederate troops. A shutdown would have undermined the foundation of Lincoln’s cause, which was the ability of free people to rule themselves. The paralysis and dysfunction would have told the world that the government he led was no longer fully devoted to the cause for which other Americans had given the last full measure of devotion. A shutdown would have looked like the beginning of the end that Lincoln always knew was possible.
Hillary Clinton: American democracy is in crisis
It makes sense that Donald Trump is indifferent to the paralysis of the government he leads, and that he welcomes a shutdown of months or even years. If shutdowns become routine, if politicians view the government in which they serve as a disposable tool, if we’re no longer capable of governing ourselves, this only reflects Trump’s contemptuous attitude toward democracy itself. Shuttered museums, federal workers who can’t pay their bills, national parks with stinking toilets: This is what Trump thinks of American republicanism. This is what the suicide of a great democracy looks like.
So we stayed for a while at the Lincoln Memorial and read the words carved into its walls, to recall what makes America great if anything does.
Conservative floored by Rudy Giuliani basically admitting Trump’s campaign colluded with Russia to win the presidency
Boot said, “This is just stunning because when Giuliani makes these kinds of concessions — and you’ve got to play that clip over and over again because the president’s lawyer is basically admitting that the president’s campaign colluded with Russia to [impact] the outcome of the American election.”
He added, “Rudy Giuliani is saying, ‘I’m not denying there’s collusion. I’m just saying it didn’t involve the president personally. I’m saying the president didn’t personally break the law.’ This is establishing a new defensive perimeter.”
“He’s basically signaling that he knows there is very strong evidence of collusion, and he is trying to get out ahead of that evidence,” Boot said. “This has really never happened before in American history.“

There is a huge push right now to delete and deny the Constitution which separates church and state with a bright line. Why was the Constitution written to SEPARATE state and religion?
What would happen if a small evangelical, fundamentalist religious sect were made into the ‘official’ religion of America, and the line between religion and state was eliminated? In other words, churches could get government grants, disaster relief funding, and public education funding? That one ‘official’ religion would then mandate teaching their fundamentalist brand of ‘dogma’ in all schools, public, private and non profit. No other religion would be allowed, and quite possibly, other religions would be made illegal, discriminated against or even have those other belief systems jailed, fined or made into death penalty offences.

Cohen says he paid to rig online polls at Trump’s direction | MSNBC
To execute the plan, Cohen reportedly hired John Gauger, the chief information officer at Jerry Falwell’s Liberty University, and the owner of a small tech company called RedFinch Solutions LLC. The goal was simple: deliver online poll results intended to make Trump happy.
In January 2014, Mr. Cohen asked Mr. Gauger to help Mr. Trump score well in a CNBC online poll to identify the country’s top business leaders by writing a computer script to repeatedly vote for him. Mr. Gauger was unable to get Mr. Trump into the top 100 candidates. In February 2015, as Mr. Trump prepared to enter the presidential race, Mr. Cohen asked him to do the same for a Drudge Report poll of potential Republican candidates, Mr. Gauger said. Mr. Trump ranked fifth, with about 24,000 votes, or 5% of the total.
As is often the case with people who do work for Team Trump, Gauger said he never received the $50,000 he was promised, though he claims Cohen did give him a Walmart bag containing between $12,000 and $13,000 in cash.

The Coming Shutdown Disaster That The Trump Admin Apparently Never Thought About
When these people leave their jobs, no one will be taking their place. There will be no new TSA agents to screen for weapons at airports when these people leave because no one is going to work for free. Soon, there will be a whole lot of important jobs that no one will be doing at all.
In addition, when Donald Trump finally gets around to opening the Federal Government back up, it may be darn hard for the Government to get anyone to apply, even then, because few will trust working for a Federal Government that does not seem to like paying people.
Let’s take the TSA agents for example. A lot of them are already calling in sick. What are their bosses going to do, fire them for calling in sick? How can their bosses fire them? No replacements will be coming. What happens when there are no more TSA agents, and then ISIS or some other group decides to take advantage of this situation? If a plane is hijacked or a plane blows up, Trump will get the blame.
Now multiple this times Secret Service, TSA, FBI, Border Patrol, Air Traffic Controllers, Coast Guard, Homeland Security and IRS.. what do you get?

Michael Cohen Hired IT Firm To Rig Polls For Trump, And He Owes Them Money: Report | HuffPost
Michael Cohen, former lawyer and fixer for President Donald Trump, hired an IT company to influence online polls in Trump’s favor before his presidential campaign, then stiffed the company out of most of the fee, The Wall Street Journal reported Thursday.
John Gauger, owner of IT firm RedFinch Solutions LLC, told the newspaper he showed up at Trump Tower in 2015 to try to collect the $50,000 owed to him, and Cohen handed him a blue Walmart bag containing $12,000 to $13,000 in cash, and, “randomly, a boxing glove that Mr. Cohen said had been worn by a Brazilian mixed-martial arts fighter.”
Cohen denied that he gave Gauger cash and said payment was by check.
Cohen requested $50,000 for “tech services” during the campaign, according to an August 2018 document from prosecutors charging Cohen with eight felonies, including campaign finance violations for arranging hush-money payments to women who alleged affairs with Trump. While prosecutors didn’t identify the company, people familiar with the matter say it was RedFinch, the Journal reported.
‘I can’t tell you what the Emoluments Clause means’: Trump’s AG nominee admits he doesn’t understand the Constitution
In an exchange on Tuesday, President Donald Trump’s nominee for attorney general, Bill Barr, admitted to California’s Dianne Feinstein that he didn’t understand the Emoluments Clause of the U.S. Constitution.
The clause is meant to protect the United States system of government from “corrupting foreign influences” by restricting government officials from receiving “any present, Emolument, Office, or Title, of any kind whatever, from any King, Prince, or foreign State.” Many Democrats and legal scholars believe the president has frequently violated the Emoluments Clause.
Here’s a twist: 91% of Americans living in Mexico are “Illegal”
From 2015 the number of Americans living illegally in Mexico has increased 37.8%. According to a Study by the National Institute of Geography and Statistics, around 739,168 thousand American Citizens lived in Mexico in 2015 and, according to the National Institute of Immigration, of those only 65,302 were legal residents.
That means that 91.2 percent of Estadounidenses living in the country in 2015 were there “illegally” but that number has risen. More recent statistics from the Sate Department stipulate that almost a million Americans are currently residing in Mexico and of those 934,698 are there illegally. That’s a 37.8% increase in just two years.

How free markets killed capitalism: Ayn Rand, Ronald Reagan, Walmart, Amazon and the 1 percent’s sick triumph over us all – Alternet.org
Yes, in many ways today we have greater concentration of wealth than we had during the days of the plutocrats, and yet there has been almost no discussion at all of the overthrow of our antimonopoly laws in the early days of Reagan. Joe Stiglitz is one of the only guys who’s connecting the end of antimonopoly law to inequality, to concentration. Other than Joe Stiglitz, there’s our unit at New America, and that’s about it. You saw the piece we just published in Washington Post. That was really the first article to make this link between inequality and monopoly.
It seems like a connection that’s natural, that’s obvious even. If you let these companies have this kind of power and control this kind of market share, and in fact, control the markets, of course this is going to happen, right?
Yes, it’s natural. It’s so natural that Sen. John S herman made that point exactly in his speech in 1890 promoting his new antitrust law. Here’s a quote. Sherman said that the aim of the Antitrust Act was to take on “the inequality of condition, of wealth, and of opportunity that has grown within a single generation out of the concentration of capital to control production and trade and to break down competition.” So the purpose – the fundamental purpose – of our first federal anti-monopoly law was precisely to avoid inequality.
So in fact, so we have the tools. That law’s still on the books.
That law’s on the books. And if we use that law right we can beat those bastards
An expert in natural disaster planning explains why the shutdown will affect workers long after federal employees return to work – Alternet.org
On Dec. 26, however, the Federal Emergency Management Agency, which contracts private contractors for a large share of their work, ordered its contractors to cease working on several projects. Even for programs with funding, progress is made difficult by a shortage of several thousand staff members.
When President Trump signaled to the Senate that he would not sign into law the appropriations bills that had passed the House, leading to the shutdown, funding with bipartisan support for disaster recovery died too. This impedes disaster relief efforts in the states that experienced disaster in the past two years. Among others, it leaves victims of the forest fires in California and victims of Hurricane Florence in the Carolinas waiting for crucial help needed to recover.
The shutdown also weakens the government’s ability to foresee, prevent and respond to upcoming natural disasters. For example, hurricane modelers with NOAA, the agency chiefly responsible for storm forecasts, are furloughed.
The AP expunges Iran/Contra pardons from Barr’s record — and proves how little interest there is in the trajectory of presidential power – Alternet.org
The Iran/Contra scandal revealed, among other things, that the Reagan/Bush White House had secretly sold missiles to Iran in exchange for hostages held in Lebanon, using the proceeds to fund right-wing forces fighting the leftist Nicaraguan government in violation of US law.
On Christmas Eve 1992, just as the indicted former Defense Secretary Caspar Weinberger was about to face trial, Bush pardoned him and five others, including former Assistant Secretary of State Elliott Abrams and and former National Security Advisor Robert McFarlane. The New York Times (12/25/92) reported this as “Bush Pardons 6 in Iran Affair, Averting a Weinberger Trial; Prosecutor Assails ‘Cover-Up.’”
The attorney general for Bush who approved the pardons, William Barr, is now being nominated for the same position by Trump. Is this background relevant? Though current news columns are rife with speculation that Trump might likewise protect himself by pardoning his indicted or convicted associates, the dominant US news wire service doesn’t seem to think so.

No Park Rangers or Food Inspections – But Government Reopens for Oil and Gas | National News | US News
As some 800,000 essential federal workers on Friday went without paychecks and people across the country clamored for the government to reopen from its ongoing shutdown, a handful of bureaucrats were among those back at work approving drilling applications for the oil and gas sector – a move that some say is illegal and possibly even criminal.
Among the roughly 800,000 federal employees who’ve gone without pay in the three weeks since the shutdown began are tens of thousands of Border Patrol agents, Customs and Border Protection officers, immigration judges and Coast Guard crews — the workers on the front lines of the border security problems that the White House and Congress have been fighting over.
That irony is not lost on workers such as Terence Shigg, a Border Patrol agent at a checkpoint in San Clemente. Shigg took on a second job as a private contractor years ago, learning from his mother’s experience raising four kids on her own on a federal salary.
“One thing I’ve learned working for the federal government is always have a backup plan,” Shigg said. He supports more miles of fencing on the border along with other resources, he says, but “I am not in favor of a shutdown.”
Trump Administration Orders Nearly 50,000 Furloughed Employees Back To Work Without Pay
“The Trump administration on Tuesday said it is calling back tens of thousands of federal workers to fulfill key government tasks, including disbursing tax refunds, overseeing flight safety and inspecting the nation’s food and drug supply, as it seeks to blunt the impact of the longest government shutdown in U.S. history.
The nearly 50,000 furloughed federal employees are being sent back to work without pay – part of a group of about 800,000 federal workers who aren’t receiving paychecks during the shutdown, which affects dozens of federal agencies large and small. A federal judge on Tuesday rejected a bid by unions representing air traffic controllers and other federal workers to force the government to pay them if they are required to work.

Karen Pence Is Working At A School That Bans LGBTQ Employees And Kids | HuffPost
Karen Pence, wife of Vice President Mike Pence, started at a job this week teaching art at Immanuel Christian School in Northern Virginia. It’s not a school where everyone is welcome. In a “parent agreement” posted online, the school says it will refuse admission to students who participate in or condone homosexual activity. The 2018 employment application also makes candidates sign a pledge not to engage in homosexual activity or violate the “unique roles of male and female.”
“Moral misconduct which violates the bona fide occupational qualifications for employees includes, but is not limited to, such behaviors as the following: heterosexual activity outside of marriage (e.g., premarital sex, cohabitation, extramarital sex), homosexual or lesbian sexual activity, polygamy, transgender identity, any other violation of the unique roles of male and female, sexual harassment, use or viewing of pornographic material or websites,” says the application.
The application says that the school believes “marriage unites one man and one woman” and that “a wife is commanded to submit to her husband as the church submits to Christ.” The application asks potential employees to explain their view of the “creation/evolution debate.”

‘Grifters, weaklings and felons’: Chris Christie burns down Trump’s entire inner circle
Axios has published a new excerpt from Christie’s book, called “Let Me Finish,” that’s due to be released later this month. In it, Christie slams Trump for surrounding himself with multiple criminals and other hangers-on who know how to flatter the president’s ego.
Specifically, Christie claims that the Trump White House is staffed by a “revolving door of deeply flawed individuals — amateurs, grifters, weaklings, convicted and unconvicted felons — who were hustled into jobs they were never suited for, sometimes seemingly without so much as a background check via Google or Wikipedia.”
Rick Santorum: Separation Of Church And State A Communist Idea, Not An American One
In a conference call with members of right-wing pastor E.W. Jackson’s STAND America that was posted online today, former senator Rick Santorum disputed the existence of the separation of church and state in the U.S. Constitution, dismissing it as a Communist idea that has no place in America.
A listener on the call told Santorum that “a number of the things that the far left, a.k.a. the Democrat [sic] Party, and the president is pushing for and accomplishing actually accomplishes a number of the tenets of ‘The Communist Manifesto,’ including the amnesty, the elevation of pornography, homosexuality, gay marriage, voter fraud, open borders, mass self-importation of illegal immigrants and things of that nature.” The likely presidential candidate replied that “the words ‘separation of church and state’ is not in the U.S. Constitution, but it was in the constitution of the former Soviet Union. That’s where it very, very comfortably sat, not in ours.”

NC House Passed HB 330 – Allowing Drivers To Legally Drive Through Protesters Who Block Roads – Charlotte Stories
A new bill has passed the NC House that would allow North Carolina drivers to drive through protesters who are blocking the road without being sued, as long as they “exercise due care.”
The North Carolina House passed HB 330 with a 67-48 vote.
It was introduced by Republican Justin Burr and “provides that a person driving an automobile while exercising due care is immune for civil liability for any injury to another if the injured person was participating in a demonstration or protest and blocking traffic.”
IRS orders 36,000 furloughed employees to return to work without pay – CNNPolitics
(CNN)The Internal Revenue Service is bringing back tens of thousands of additional federal employees with less than two weeks before tax filing season begins.
The federal tax collector said Tuesday in an undated government shutdown plan that it would recall an additional 36,000 federal employees, bringing the total number of those working at the IRS during the partial government shutdown to more than 46,000, or roughly 57% of the workforce.
The move will allow Americans to get their tax refunds on time, but at the expense of the IRS employees, most of whom won’t be paid.
Hmmm, isn’t there a clause in the Constitution and Bill Of Rights about slavery (indentured servitude) being illegal?
Forcing people to work without pay is defined as slavery, right?
Texas woman slams the door on the Secret Service
After reportedly posting online about hoping someone would shoot President Trump between the eyes, a woman in Texas was shocked to see a Secret Service agent at her door only a few hours later. According to her, he attempted to intimidate her and enter her home but stopped when her nephew started recording. After stating that she wanted a lawyer, the woman got the agent’s phone number and then slammed the door shut without waiting for him to leave.

‘Shameful’: Colorado Supreme Court Denounced for Siding With Big Oil Profits Over Public Health in Youth-Led Suit
In a move green groups and youth climate leaders denounced as a gift to the fossil fuel industry at the expense of public health, the Colorado Supreme Court on Monday reversed a lower court decision and ruled that the state’s regulators do not have to consider environmental and health impacts before approving new oil and gas projects.
“It is so disappointing for the youth and the people of Colorado to hear the decision from the Colorado Supreme Court today,” said Xiuhtezcatl Martinez, an 18-year-old plaintiff in the youth-led suit against the Colorado Oil and Gas Conservation Commission (COGCC).
“To know that the judges in the highest court of my state believe that the interests of the oil and gas industry come before the public health, safety, and welfare of my fellow Coloradans is shameful,” Martinez added. “But I want you all to know that this fight for climate justice is far from over. My fellow plaintiffs, youth around the world, and I will continue to stand up for our right to a healthy future.”

Calvary Chapel is one of the largest and fastest growing churches in the United States. However, the church has been plagued with allegations of protecting pedophiles and sexually abusing children. The Miami New Times reports:
The revelations come at a sensitive moment for Calvary’s national network of about 1,800 churches, which have been riven by legal infighting and dogged by claims that bad pastors have been allowed to run amok. In fact, at least eight pastors, staff members and volunteers in Calvary Chapel’s network around the United States have been charged with abusing children since 2010. In one case, victims claimed the church knowingly moved a pedophile to another city without warning parents.
William Barr confirmation hearing today: Trump attorney general nominee testifies to Senate Judiciary Committee – CBS News
Barr suggested he is inclined to think a sitting president cannot be indicted. “For 40 years the position of the executive branch is that you can’t indict a sitting president,” Barr said, adding that he hasn’t read those opinions in a long time, but “I see no reason to change them.”
It’s unclear if Mueller’s final report on the investigation will be made public. Barr said he wants to make as much public as is consistent with the special counsel regulation, but it’s Barr who has the final say on what is made public, and he suggested that in the event prosecution is declined, those findings may not be made public.
Barr, who has been critical of the Mueller probe, isn’t inclined to recuse himself. He said he will ask Justice Department officials to review any cases in which he should recuse himself but won’t follow any recommendation if he disagrees with it.

Playtime Is Over for Jared Kushner and His New Saudi Friends | Vanity Fair
American officials and a Saudi briefed on their conversations said that Mr. Kushner and Prince Mohammed have continued to chat informally. According to the Saudi, Mr. Kushner has offered the crown prince advice about how to weather the storm, urging him to resolve his conflicts around the region and avoid further embarrassments . . . Inside the White House, Mr. Kushner has continued to argue that the president needs to stand by Prince Mohammed because he remains essential to the administration’s broader Middle East strategy, according to people familiar with the deliberations.
Meanwhile, few promises the Saudis made to Kushner during those heady wooing days have amounted to much. Despite offering $50 billion in new weapons contracts, the kingdom has “signed only letters of interest or intent,” devoid of firm deals. After offering to drum up $100 billion in investments in U.S. infrastructure, the Saudi government has only announced an investment of $20 billion. A counterterrorism center in Riyadh is thought to be largely ineffectual. Yet the Quiet Genius of New Jersey seemingly has no idea he’s been played, which is apparently what happens when you put a slumlord in charge of Middle East policy…
Trump ended up hiring Christie anyway, but Jared, who seemingly believes criminal acts should be settled at a diner on the New Jersey Turnpike, never relented. Shortly after the election, he got his wish: Christie was given the heave-ho and told by then–senior adviser Steve Bannon that “one person only was responsible for the . . . execution . . . Jared Kushner, still apparently seething over events that had occurred decades ago,” an account echoed in Michael Lewis’s book about the administration. “The kid’s been taking an ax to your head with the boss ever since I got here,” Bannon apparently told Christie.
While the former governor of New Jersey has his own history of political revenge, corruption, and score-settling, Jared Kushner has gone on the record with his belief that his father did nothing wrong in committing a host of federal crimes. In 2009, he explained to New York magazine that his father was actually the true victim in all this: “His siblings stole every piece of paper from his office, and they took it to the government,” Jared insisted, not mentioning that the things on the pieces of paper showed evidence his father had committed a cornucopia of crimes. “Siblings that he literally made wealthy for doing nothing. He gave them interests in the business for nothing. All he did was put the tape together and send it. Was it the right thing to do? At the end of the day, it was a function of saying, ‘You’re trying to make my life miserable? Well, I’m doing the same.’”
