7 POWERS OF REST

1 PHYSICAL: Rest is required physically. The body can be overtaxed and overburdened because of toxin exposure, and/or ‘overdoing’, to the point of exhaustion, which if continued on a chronic basis, can also lead to mental breakdown, emotional breakdown, and physical illness or worse. The physical body needs rest in order to recharge and heal from all of this, preferably in a place where a person can put their toes in the water, walk on grass or contact the earth, and surrounded by healing Nature. It may take 30 days in Nature to recover and heal from the stress caused by one year of work and exposure to toxins.

Genesis 2:2 By the seventh day God had finished the work he had been doing; so on the seventh day he rested from all his work.

Genesis 2:3 Then God blessed the seventh day and made it holy, because on it he rested from all the work of creating that he had done.

James 2:16  If one of you says to them, “Go in peace; keep warm and well fed,” but does nothing about their physical needs, what good is it?

Part of the ten commandments is to rest one day a week, doing nothing but focusing on God, via the Sabbath.

Exodus 20:8 (NIV) “Remember the Sabbath day by keeping it holy. 9 Six days you shall labor and do all your work, 10 but the seventh day is a sabbath to the Lord your God. On it you shall not do any work, neither you, nor your son or daughter, nor your male or female servant, nor your animals, nor any foreigner residing in your towns.

Hebrews 4: 1 Therefore, since the promise of entering his rest still stands, let us be careful that none of you be found to have fallen short of it. ….11 Let us, therefore, make every effort to enter that rest, so that no one will perish by following their example of disobedience. (Sabbath day as holy rest day)

Without proper sleep, there is no true rest. Make sure to get plenty of sleep.

Psalms 4:8 In peace I will lie down and sleep, for you alone, Lord , make me dwell in safety.

Isaiah 58:13-14 “If because of the sabbath, you turn your foot
From doing your own pleasure on My holy day,
And call the sabbath a delight, the holy day of the Lord honorable,
And honor it, desisting from your own ways,
From seeking your own pleasure
And speaking your own word,
Then you will take delight in the Lord,
And I will make you ride on the heights of the earth;
And I will feed you with the heritage of Jacob your father,
For the mouth of the Lord has spoken.” Source: https://bible.knowing-jesus.com/topics/Rest,-Physical

2 MENTAL: Rest is required mentally. The mind can tends to ‘overthink’. By hyper focusing on thoughts and not getting any rest from this, the mind can be stressed to the point of mental exhaustion. A person and the mind specifically needs a break from thinking and doing, especially so if there are racing thoughts which do not stop even if a person is lying down, and thus cannot get to sleep.

The mind can and often does ‘overthink’ and thus the mind can be stressed to the point of exhaustion.

2 Corinthians 7:5 For when we came into Macedonia, we had no rest, but we were harassed at every turn—conflicts on the outside, fears within.

Ecclesiastes 10:13 At the beginning their words are folly; at the end they are wicked madness

The best quality of true rest mentally requires surrender to God. Resting in God, means surrendering of all thoughts, stresses, worries, anxieties, stress, outcomes, burdens and cares to God.

3 EMOTIONAL: Rest is required emotionally. The emotions felt during or after trauma, conflict, grief, stress, overwork, or in difficult situations or in crisis moments can be overwhelming. A person needs a break from what can end up being oppressive weighty emotions that can and will drain a person of energy, vitality, interest in life, and even health.

Weighty emotions that can fill a heart with darkness and then literally drain the life out of a person include but are not limited to grief, shame, worry, anger, rage, guilt, revenge, hopelessness, stress, anxiety, horrors/darkness of all kinds, and more…

Psalm 55:4-8 My heart is in anguish within me; the terrors of death have fallen on me. 5 Fear and trembling have beset me; horror has overwhelmed me. 6 I said, “Oh, that I had the wings of a dove! I would fly away and be at rest. 7 I would flee far away and stay in the desert; 8 I would hurry to my place of shelter, far from the tempest and storm.”

Ecclesiastes 9:3 This is the evil in everything that happens under the sun: The same destiny overtakes all. The hearts of people, moreover, are full of evil and there is madness in their hearts while they live, and afterward they join the dead.

4 SPIRITUAL: Rest is required spiritually, because on a soul level, especially if all of the above are overwhelming, because it is very difficult in the daily ‘grind’ and daily doing and stressing and worrying and thinking and physical exhaustion, to be able to rest sufficiently to get clear enough, so that there is an opening for God to show up

Exodus 33:14  The Lord replied, “My Presence will go with you, and I will give you rest.”

1 Corinthians 2:5  so that your faith might not rest on human wisdom, but on God’s power.

Rest on a spiritual or soul level is focused on or relaxing into more faith, into the BEING, the calm, into the peace, and into the certainty on a soul level of God’s will, not our small will.

2 Corinthians 10:15  Neither do we go beyond our limits by boasting of work done by others. Our hope is that, as your faith continues to grow, our sphere of activity among you will greatly expand

Psalms 62:1 Truly my soul finds rest in God; my salvation comes from him.

5 SOCIAL: Rest is required socially. Jesus went away from everyone to rest in a place away from responsibilities, away from people, away from daily duties, away from the daily noise of city life, away from that energy of ‘busy’ and doing, away from interruptions, away from anyone asking for ‘favors’, away from children, relatives, pets, and other distractions. Even Jesus needed rest and separation from the daily comings and goings of his busy life and ministry.

Mark 6:31-32 And he said to them, “Come away by yourselves to a desolate place and rest a while.” For many were coming and going, and they had no leisure even to eat. And they went away in the boat to a desolate place by themselves.

6 THE PATH LESS TRAVELED – Rest is required from the ‘normal’ and the ‘status quo’. Rest is required in terms of following the freeway of life, where everyone else is going. It is highly possible that God will call you to do something different from everyone else. It is possible to get out of the will of God, and then be corrected to get back into the Divine Will of God, whatever that is and where ever that leads. The only correct path for a person is the one that God calls them and leads them into, which may be an ‘ancient’ or timeless path, one that is even beyond time and space, and/or beyond the ‘normal’ of ordinary life.

Jeremiah 6:16 This is what the Lord says: “Stand at the crossroads and look; ask for the ancient paths, ask where the good way is, and walk in it, and you will find rest for your souls. But you said, ‘We will not walk in it.’

It is easy to say no to the still small voice and gentle nudging of the Holy Spirit in favor of the world and it’s loud busyness, constant braying, advertising and pressures of job, bosses, TV, radio, social media, traffic, loud people, or neighbors, etc…..

The only way to be at peace on a soul level is to get really quiet, rest in the stillness, and listen inwardly for the quiet nudging which leads to inner peace, inner certainty and following Divine Will, instead of our own will which may be rebelling against what God wants for us. The path of ‘rest’ within God’s will, may mean creating a path by following the Holy Spirit, where there is no path yet.

Sometimes, it is possible to lose our way, unintentionally, despite being ‘spiritual’ and wanting to follow God’s will. We can unconsciously disassociate from God, without even meaning to.

7 ETERNITY IN CHRIST/HOLY SPIRIT – True rest in eternity is different from the stress of wondering what happens in the present moment, as well as the future. There is a stress in not knowing for certain how life will turn out and what happens after death.

Surrendering to and following a spiritual master (MESSIAH) who has conquered death, who offers forgiveness and who guarantees a future certainty consisting of ETERNITY of HEAVEN, is the highest and best form of REST. Christ offers not just eternity in Heaven, he also offers a real life, a purpose, a destiny, a power and rest for the weary, plus a mountain of benefits, gifts and blessings.

There are plenty of other spiritual masters, gurus, psychics, astrologers, wizards, holy men and magicians, but none of them were tortured, slandered, hung on a cross to die, and then rose again from the dead after three days, with hundreds to thousands of witnesses who then wrote about all of this. None of these ‘others’ promises complete forgiveness of all sins/karma instantly and for all eternity. None of them promises to return and abide with his children in a Kingdom of Heaven on Earth. Only Jesus Christ promises all of this plus much more.

FORGIVENESS Matthew 26:28 This is my blood of the covenant, which is poured out for many for the forgiveness of sins.

Luke 1:77 to give his people the knowledge of salvation through the forgiveness of their sins

Luke 24:47 and repentance for the forgiveness of sins will be preached in his name to all nations, beginning at Jerusalem.

Acts 10:43 All the prophets testify about him that everyone who believes in him receives forgiveness of sins through his name

RIVERS OF LIVING WATER

SOUL REST: Matthew 11:28-30 28 “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. 29 Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls30 For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”

LIFE 1 Corinthians 15:20-22 But Christ has indeed been raised from the dead, the firstfruits of those who have fallen asleep. For since death came through a man, the resurrection of the dead comes also through a man. For as in Adam all die, so in Christ all will be made alive.

ETERNITY Ecclesiastes 3:11 He has made everything beautiful in its time. He has also set eternity in the human heart; yet no one can fathom what God has done from beginning to end.

Psalm 93:2 Your throne was established long ago; you are from all eternity.

INNER LIGHT 1 John 1:5 This is the message we have heard from him and declare to you: God is light; in him there is no darkness at all.

OPENING EYES, POWER OF GOD, SANCTIFICATION Acts 26:18 to open their eyes and turn them from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan to God, so that they may receive forgiveness of sins and a place among those who are sanctified by faith in me

HOLY SPIRIT Acts 2:38 Peter replied, “Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.
